Skiing perfect corn in the sun is really hard to beat. Perfect day to check out some new to me terrain.
This winter has been finicky. Finally got to catch a little air and do a little powders.
I enjoyed the shit out of this day but did not think it was going to be my last deep one. Fingers crossed for another good storm.
Fun pow day with my covid crew. 20 tigers is 20 tigers. Early April was real kind to us quaranteeners.
Long but pretty smooth day finally conquering the west couloir of the majestic Greywolf Peak! 7800 feet of uphill. Ready for more big spring slogs.
celebrating 60 months of continuous skiing in western montana with pretty decent turns. Hoping the snow keeps up!
Super blower day touring some low angle stuff on a -30 degree day last winter.
skiing mount butthole at Juul Basin with my family. we let the dog out.
2 laps deep in the Rattlesnake Wilderness Area on old Mosquito Peak. The 2nd chute was a new one for me and the choke point did not fill in that great this year obv. Always sketch guinea pigging a line that no one has skied all year. Big line season is upon us. Jazzed for more marathon days in ze mountains.
Getting pretty deep out there today! Gonna be even deeper tomorrow!! Hooray for tru montana cold smoke!
one of those magical days. Big mountain on saturday was the best snow Ive skied in a minute. Dusty!
Backcountry has been fyre for us. Jah blessed with stable pow on all aspects. A couple more weeks of play before I gotta go back to worky. Keep the cold storms comin!
No biblical storms around here in west central Montana, but cold temps, small crowds, and consistent snow has kept things legit.
Making the most of a shallow unstable snowpack. Endless mellow powder turns with a huge crew after skinning 5K from the valley floor to the top of Ward mountain in the Bitterroots. Omitted the last 1000 ft of teeth chattering death crust. Great day goofing around with friends skiing above the inversion nastiness in the Valley.
Keeping it real intermediate at the local hill while we wait for the next snow to open up shop. So ready to sit on some lifts and make laps. BTW the atomic bentchetler 100s are fucking awesome in all kinds of snow and are proving to be a worthy touring weapon.
some clips from last weekend. Hyped for more this weekend, jazzed as
Went snow hunting last weekend but we found some frozen shit. Always fun tho!
Pretty cruisy up there on the Stanton Glacier. Feels good to wrap up another summer of skiing questionable antique snow. Ready for Rocktober pow to make it 48 months straight of noodling around in the hills.
summer ski season has been too cold so far. nice to be able to ski in my favorite ports again.
survival skiing on Suncupped garbage riddled with fallen rock debris. Neat times exploring a new zone tho. A little earlier perhaps for next year.
Who doesnt like unknowingly cruising towards a little death crack every now and then. Could have been ugly. looked deep and scary. Lucky to sneak in a great lap between the hail and lightning. Taking advantage of the higher elevation trailheads finally becoming accessible!
Thanks to all that gave us truck rides and snowmobile bumps. Great times exploring the roadside attractions of beartooth pass. Cant wait to go back and rally some tbar laps at the basin and do some more poking around. RIP transfer case.
Staying high cause the rivers are all blown the fuck out, who cares fishing is for grandpas. summer ski season is shaping up quite nicely. the runnels are forming, cornices are breaking, and the sun cups should be knee deep soon enough.
Fantastic day conquering the almighty Sugarloaf peak in the Bitterroots. Such a cool line that I have been eyeing for a couple years. So lucky to ski it in great April conditions. Such a great snowpack for spring missions.
Arlo the golden skied like a champ in the meadows of Beehive Basin near Big Sky Montana.
Skied the south chute off of Gray Wolf Peak in the Mission Mountains on a crystal clear day. Perfect carvy corn. Kudos to the the world war 2 era bulldozer that cleared the roads for us. Also kudos to the mountain goat that broke trail for us up the chute.
Expected rain and shitty snow. But we remained optimystical and things got more awesomer.
