Unfortunately while night skiing on one of the last nights of 2013 my season came to an end. I shattered my knee cap throwing a switch 270 onto the last rail of the run shown in this video. Before that the season was going great and I was finally getting all my tricks back a.k.a. I was having so much fun. Here is one of my last runs shot a few laps before the accident on the rail line at Boreal.
This past season on Dec. 29 I shattered my patella into 7 pieces. All the doctors had told me my season was over and at first, although I was devastated my season had been cut short, I was content to look forward to working my ass of and coming back strong next season. However once I started PT a month out of surgery my Physical therapist changed my mind set. I worked my ass off and pushed myself to my limit every day, he soon began saying that my progress was lightyears ahead of what he had expected. When I saw my sergeant, he was surprised as well and had a similar prospective. I credit this mostly to the people around me that where pushing me every day and even the kids I coach constantly asking when I would be skiing with them again. About 3 months out my PT said if I wanted to give it a shot my mobility and muscle growth should be appropriate to get back out and take some runs. I jumped on this opportunity and although I wasn't throwing down hard was grateful to be able to get back on snow about 6 time within the last two weeks of the season. This is not what I had planned for this season but can honestly say those first days back made the entire season a success. Its great to be back doing what I love and I can't wait for day 1 next fall!!
Some shots from a few of the coaches during the on snow camp, and some ridiculously close follow cam dub and trip shots training into the foam pit. Dub back, switch dub back, both way dub 10s, dub 14(10-3), and some tips. Watch my coworkers and myself having fun at work. Enjoy!
I thought knee surgery this january was going to kill my summer. But this one ended up being the most fun yet. Check out some clips I put together of Jaime Melton, Erick Keough, and myself Cliff Jumping, Tramping, and even some summer skiing. The woodward freeski coaches held it down in the water this summer with some gnarly dubs and even trips off the cliffs! Watch and enjoy!
2013 was a great year, both skiing during the summer while coaching at Woodward and during the first month of the season. Unfortunately that was all I got to enjoy. On Dec 29, 2013, I was spinning a swot 270 over a gap onto a down rail and shattered my patella. I had been working on a lot of new tricks on the tramps and ramps and due to the lack of snow in Tahoe I unfortunately did not have the opportunity to throw down like I had hoped to. Anyway, in a few weeks I start PT and will be on the road to recovery. I look forward to skiing and coaching this summer, and maybe even planning a trip to NZ at the end of summer to wrap it up. As for now I just can wait to start PT so I can begin working to get back on the hill.
Check out Jaime Melton and Matt Nelson killing it with the follow cam on the Boreal jump line. These guys are making good of tahoes lack of snow. Check it out, rate it up.
