Sander Hadley Ostlay 14/15

Ostlay is pig latin for lost. My father passed away May 3, 2014. He was my best friend and biggest supporter. His passing left me in a lost state of mind all of last winter. He always laughed about being required to take a dead language (pig latin) in high school.
Here are the highlights from when the camera did end up coming out. I'm happy to say I am in a much more peaceful place nowadays and continue to live on as his legacy. Cheers to the lost ones, thanks for the inspiration.

Sunny Bird

This month, my world was turned upside down. My best friend, my hero, my father, Kirk Hadley passed away. Skiing and family (not limited to blood) have been my rocks during this wild month, my deepest meditative forms. Although I didn't get to ski as much as I have in past months, the times I did get to this month were very special. My good friend, Ryan Mooney, shot me, Bo Ferro and Chance Larkin enjoying a couple of those special days at Snowbird Ski and Summer Resort. The family that I have accumulated through the ski community makes each day on the hill a joy. Thank you. Also, big thanks to my sponsors for making me a part of their families.

As everyone knows, the greatest enemy of creativity is ourselves. I got to a point with my skiing stuff that nothing was ever “good enough”. I feel like I’m finally coming out of a dark hole after the last 6 years.

"Nix" simply put, translates to snow in latin. Snow provides direction in my life. This short film highlights my beginnings as a pro skier and why I chose to move home to Pocatello, Idaho after a few big things happened in my life. All shots were gathered from chairlifts and foot power.

Going for Broke Trailer

Cast Touring presents, "Going for Broke," a short ski film by Sander Hadley and Jake Doan. Supported by Flylow Gear, Dynastar/Look/Lange, Picture Organic Clothing, and Auclair Gloves.

We set out at the beginning of last season with a vision to make a project that was fully created by us. Skiing, music, film, edit--with full control of how we want our skiing to be portrayed, we came up with a piece that shows how much fun it is to just have a camera, friends, and some good snow.

Japan 2019

Went to the north island of Hokkaido for 20 days back in January 2019. We rented an RV, skied lots of powder and tried to figure out what exactly is a ditch panther. Skiers include, Willie Nelson, Conor Pelton & Sam Watson. Shot on iPhones and GoPros.

Sean and I spent time skiing pillows at Golden Alpine Holidays with Hoji, Markus Eder, Michelle Parker and T Rains. Epic crew that I learned a lot from.
Sure was a mind fu$% being thrown straight into the mix at a backcountry lodge only touring. It was a very humbling experience. Pillow skiing is extremely difficult. Watching Hoji ski in person is like watching professional skateboarding with your own eyes, it's mind blowing. T Rains is a true master jedi. Markus slays in all aspects. Michelle rips hard.


Sean and I then went to Tahoe. Our trip got the plug pulled on it after just 2 days and 1 road gap session in as temperatures climbed into the 50's.


Sean and Noah got to session the Whistler jump. Looks like things went off. Awesome to see Sean's classic style in the air and Noah bringing his own spice too.

The 2012/2013 Winter is off and sliding. Saw some good snow in December around Idaho and Utah. January has been cold and clear, providing great park conditions and snow has been able to stick around in the city. This is a collection of shots gathered from 11/9/12-1/17/13. Mt. Hood May

Spent May 1st-22nd living out of my car around Oregon shredding at Timberline. Here is some footage from a couple of laps on a sunny day and some rainy day cell phone laps. Would've liked to have gotten more, however hot lappin' was just too fun to grab the camera most days.

Idaho Summer Skiing, Cliff Jumping, Rope Swingin'

Bloomington Lake is one of Southeast Idaho's best kept secrets featuring summer snow, a rope swing, cliff jumping and great fishing. Located 45 minutes west of Paris, Idaho via dirt road, it was only a short two hour trip from our hometown of Pocatello, Idaho. #FTPWR
I’ve felt conflicted about backcountry riding since experiencing my first avalanche last season. This winter I decided to do something about it, so I signed up for an avalanche 2 course, almost 8 years since completing my Avy 1.

As a skier working on filming the last 9 years I’ve all too often put my safety and decisions into the hands of guides, experienced athletes—anyone but me. My goals in the mountains have gone from cover as much ground as possible in search of the next big air to now moving mostly by foot, finding stuff that gets me excited and enjoying what comes with that. I am grateful for the (ignorant?) safe passage over the years and the opportunity to continue exploring all aspects of skiing, it’s not called freestyle snowboarding ;). #FTPWR

Sun Valley with Sander Hadley

My roommate and I traveled to Sun Valley, Idaho for a couple of days during our spring break to ride Dollar Mountain. We were greeted with 50+ degree temperatures and top notch features. Huge thanks to Jan Kelly and Jeremy Lato for the shots. We pulled out the camera for a couple of hours during our second day there.
