You might think that being a professional skier is all about hanging out, building jumps, and talking shit. In fact, it also includes copious amounts of drinking, monitoring of weather forecasts, and shooting things with firearms of dubious legality. This week the Under the Weather boys are suffering through a major snow drought in Whistler so they pack up their best flat caps and move to Revelstoke for the entire month. When June-uary - June in January, get it? - hits all of British Columbia the crew heads back home and dives deep into the Whistler nightlife. Some might say too deep. Luckily you don't need to wake up until noon to ride park. Finally they build an 80 foot step-up with an ice bar attachment, truck in some young ladies, booze, good people, and a small armory, and let the madness ensue. And by 'madness' we mean, they built the jump too small and they are going to wake up sore. Oh and Eliel went to Japan. Scored epic pow, got mega deep, blah blah blah. Screw that guy...

Under the Weather | Ep 4 | Stop and Feed the Birds

Dec 2014 - 1.2K views

Spring is always a wild time in Whistler. Between the perfect backcountry conditions and spring festival season in full-swing, it's the perfect time to go 110% until you wake up with nothing but empty pockets and all those questionable decisions running through your head. So the Under The Weather crew did just. Adding to good time they decided to pile a film-competition called 'Intersection' onto the usual go-go-go regimen. This is the setup: seven teams have seven days to film a seven minute edit, all within 100 kilometers of Whistler, and with $10,000 up for grabs. Sleep was kept to a minimum and everyone was sure to make proper fools of themselves along the way. This episode features a swath of guest appearances from local riders like Liam Casey, Mack Jones, Dane Dergyutur, and Thayne Rich. There was also some help behind the cameras from Graeme Meiklejohn and Liam Benstead. Stop And Feed The Birds | Under the Weather, Ep. 4

Under the Weather | Welcome to College | Episode 2.1

Mar 2015 - 1.8K views

College... Ah the glory days. Following in the illustrious footsteps of 'Animal House', 'Van Wilder', and 'Piranhas 3D', the Under The Weather Boys have left behind the working life of season one in favor of greener, less responsible, and more alcohol riddled pastures. Splitting life between the libraries of Vancouver's top universities, Canada's greatest mountains, and the dark corners of Whistler's night life - not necessarily in equal amounts. With the first term of school ending and the Winter months rolling in the snow fails to materialize and the boys have to hustle every opportunity they can get to ski. But when exams finish the road begins to call and Essex Prescott, Dylan Siggers, Mikel Witlox, Brody McSkimming, Brian Goertzen, Jeremy Acland, Eliel Hindert, and Garret Knochenmus head out into the Fernie backcountry to find where the powder has gone - and where they parked their car. Filming By: Maurizio Von Flotow, Dylan Siggers (Burrlapz), Tim Saylor, and the riders Booze, Babes, and Backcountry | Under The Weather Season 2, Ep. 1

Under the Weather | Trippin' | Episode 2.2

May 2015 - 1K views

Things rarely go as planned. Especially in college. One second you neck deep in finals dreaming of the light at the end of the academic tunnel. The next you show up to your friendly neighborhood world class ski resort to find they haven't had a Winter this bad since skis were directional and Vanilla Ice was still turning out hits. So with nothing but dirt and rain in the rearview the crew puts their hands on the wheel and starts pounding the pavement towards greener pastures. It's road trip time - hell if we know where we're going but we'll be damned if we don't get there.

Gone Tomorrow | 1.1 | Ulleung-Do, Korea

by L.e.L.
Jan 2016 - 789 views

Ulleung-Do. A name that few people have ever heard, and rightfully so. Not quite Korea, and not quite Japan, this tiny island exists far from the public view and even further from the rational understanding of what a ski trip should be. Technically it's South Korea. Four hours by boat and endless stomach churning seas separate this volcanic anomaly from any other landmass. Smack dab in the middle of the Sea of Japan, this is the birthplace for the storms that create the now infamous 'Japan-uary' snowfall that skiers and snowboarders from all over the world seek out.

Here at the source, storms materialize without warning and have been known to deposit up to two meters of snow in a 24-hour period on the slopes that rise a thousand meters directly out of the blue waters before tumbling back down into an ancient volcanic crater. Essentially a powder paradise perched on a nearly private island and home to a grand total of four skiers. All of whom have roots running five generations back on the island. They sounded like they could use some company and after an invitation to join it seemed like it would be rude not to join them, no?
