Would Avalanches and Stitches Stop You from Skiing Powder?

by 00000000
Apr 2014 - 757 views

After a week skiing deep powder in Hakuba, Japan Jérôme Chanal and Guillaume Harleaux were planning to go to Hokkaido. Then Jérôme kissed a tree and had to get his face stitched up in the emergency room. While he was sitting in the hospital the snow kept falling and by the time he was out there was tons of fresh powder. The only thing to do was get back on the skis and head into the incredible Japanese mountains. The shooting conditions may have been bad but the skiing was awesome. Bask in the famous Niseko powder, which makes wind, cold, relentless snow and even lip stitches seem like very small issues indeed. Would Avalanches and Stitches Stop You from Skiing Powder? Not Jérôme Chanal | Japanese Dream, Ep. 3

Monster Energy: Enemy Lines 2014

by 00000000
Apr 2014 - 968 views

After unseasonably warm weather in 2013 forced the race to start from a cat track below the headwall, the forecast in Fernie, BC cooperated just enough this year to allow for the main event to drop off the top. The 2014 format included 5, 4-man heats where the top 2 from each heat advanced to the final. This was followed by a 10-man last chance qualifier (LCQ) which saw Ben Rex Ogilvie grabbing the last spot. Last Years' winner, Stan Rey had a bye to the main event. At a reception at the Monster Athlete house on Friday, qualifiers were randomly drawn from a hat and were able to choose their preferred line. On Saturday's main event, 12 skiers dropped in off the 2,120 foot Lizard Bowl headwall, where Stan Rey edged out Logan Pehota by milliseconds to capture his second straight title.

by 00000000
Apr 2014 - 829 views

When Volcom was founded in 1991, it was the first company to combine skateboarding, surfing and snowboarding under one brand from its inception. This way of life influenced the anti-establishment style and attitude that defined a generation. The cultural phenomenon was best captured when Volcom released "Alive We Ride" in 1993: a film documenting the raw excitement and spontaneous creativity inherent to the lifestyle. Twenty-one years later, with the release of "True To This", Volcom again captures the energy and artistry of board-riding in its purest forms. Shot all around the world and showcasing iconic athletes, "True To This" is a tribute to the movement that inspired a generation and the people and places that embody that spirit today.

MAAD Maude 2.2

Feb 2014 - 10.3K views

In between traveling & finishing rehab on my new knee, I spent some good times getting stronger on my skis in Colorado. I?m happy to call Breckenridge my home this season as Breck & Keystone park are always on point. It has been a bit if a struggle to get my head clear again, & a lot of work to ski with ease and trust myself. Its quite a challenge to find the balance to link my head, body & filming all together & try to push it a little more everyday. I am glad to put out a little transition edit with the song I?ve had on repeat in my car & ear buds for a month straight haha! I?m in California now making an edit in the sun! Keep it real, Maude ?

Dub Tales Ep. 7 Retallack with Orage

by 00000000
Feb 2014 - 860 views

Late March 2013, I had the great opportunity to visit the famed Retallack Lodge with other members of the Orage family. Banks Gilberti, Charley Ager, Tatum Monod, and I shot with Felix Rioux and Jake Strassman as Mike Nick orchestrated everything. Retallack is over the top- a delicious hearty breakfast and packed lunches allows for a full day of lapping deep, pillow filled forests before a daily Chinese Downhill brings everyone back to the lodge for wings, beer, and games of neglin. The employees and the crew- especially Sir John A. Macdonald, Jonny5, and Karl the Gnarl- kept us safe and stoked, and I can't wait to get back up there.
