I am very glad I pulled the trigger on the 2016 ON3P Kartel 98's. The price tag may scare some people away, but it is worth the outstanding quality and durability of ON3P skis.
Specs:
The kartel 98's are offered in several lengths including 161cm,171cm,176cm,181cm, and 186cm (I am 6'2" and I ride the 186). The ski features a 100% bamboo core which makes the skis very responsive and lightweight. They are not too soft and not too stiff, perfect to do whatever your little heart desires during a day on the slopes.
Terrain:
The Kartel 98's are a great ski for a mix of park and all-mountain. The 98mm waist allows for a tight turn radius for ripping groomers, and optimal performance in the park. They even perform well in deeper snow. the fairly stiff flex gives the skis great stability on jumps so you don't wash out when landing.
Overall, the Kartel 98's are a fun ski to ride and they feel solid anywhere on the mountain. I highly recommend them.
I have skied these for 10 days now. I've tested them in sticky spring slush, hard pack, ice, fresh powder, and pretty much everything in between. They are simply the most responsive skis i've ever ridden. I tested the 181 length, with 127/98/120, 20.5 m radius, 144.5 cm edge for specs.
Stiff underfoot, poppy, and easy to ride switch, this ski is perfect for all mountain activities, including park. Mine were mounted up with demo bindings, so they were a little heavy- I can't say they're the lightest park ski. They def have some bulk to them, however it's not as noticeable as the Wrenegades weight. They're 2.07 kg per ski- 4.56 lb per ski.
They have a 100% bamboo core. ON3P has the toughest edges and bases in the game, so damage to them is very difficult, and very minimal- even after skiing straight over a rock sheet at Bridger Bowl.
Should you ride park, but want to rip the groomers or packed big mountain conditions occasionally, these skis are perfect for you.
