It's imperative that most of us have smartphones. As you may have realized, most smartphones are not designed for cold, wet environments. Being skiers, these condtitions are what we face every day... see the problem? To me, it only seems natural that we protect our smartphones from water and temperature best we can. I've found no better way to do this than with my beloved LifeProof case. It's light, somewhat slim, and most importantly, keeps your phone dry. I've used this case every day for the past two years, and it has saved my i-device an innumerable amount of times.
This is the slimmest, most quality case you can buy. I looked at alternatives from brands like Otterbox and Griffon, but they are not nearly as compact as the LifeProof (I would recommend sticking with the big-name brands, there is a lot of stuff on eBay that is pretty hit-or-miss when it comes to duability). It takes two seconds to get your phone into the case and doesn't feel all that bulky in your pocket. I drop my phone at least once a day from pocket height or higher and everything still functions perfectly. I've never had water get in the case, even when fully submerged. The case definitely shows some signs of wear after two years of hard use, but it is functionally still perfect.
One of my main gripes with the case is the headphone port. The extender provided by lifeproof failed after a couple months of use, and the only headphones that fit in the tiny opening are the stock Apple earbuds. Additionally, the screen protector scratches pretty easily (but I'd rather it scratch than my actual screen).
I would definitely recommend this case for all skiers. So many of my friends complain about their phone getting water damage or screen cracking when they land on it, so a LifeProof seems like a no brainer to protect the $700 device in your pocket.
