Note: There is no category for shovels/BC gear, so this is in the "poles" category for now.
I have primarily been using this shovel to build BC kickers, and its awesome. I previously had a BD Transfer 3 shovel but I found myself wanting something a bit bigger for moving more snow. This shovel is just about the biggest you can buy while still being able to pack it around in a medium sized pack (fits in my Heli Pro with room for lunch, layers, other shovels, etc.).
The shovel is 35" fully extended, and 26" compressed. The handle and shovel break apart into two parts each 15" tall. The blade is 10"x15", which I think is a perfect size for a combination of utility and pack-ability. Some people think they need a D-handle to shovel with mittens, but I usually wear mittens while digging and haven't found the T-handle to be an issue at all.
I do have a few gripes with this shovel. The handle is completely round with no guides, which makes finding the locking holes a hassle (my previous shovel had a more triangular shaped handle, which removed the uncertainty entirely). I would have also liked to see a slightly pointed spot at the center for breaking into ice. Additionally, the shovel is heavier than some might wish, but it's not a big deal for mild sidecountry/BC missions.
If you're looking for a shovel to use mainly on jump builds, look not further. This is gonna make the largest cubes and dig the quickest. It will also dig your car out of a wind drift pretty quickly, but don't hold me accountable if you get carried away by how easily it moves snow and hits your car. If you want supreme pack-ability, keep looking, because this shovel isn't light or small.
