CORRECTION-2012 MODEL REVIEW
Absolute shredders. Been meaning to add a review for some time, but as winter approaches I am reminded how sick these sticks are. I have been shredding the EL REY since I purchased them new in 2011. After 3 seasons of use, they show minimal signs of wear. After harsh, sparking hits during urban sessions both edges and bases show only minor dings. After riding these skis in both park and pow, im stoked on the performance in either environment. Compared to an Armada JJ of 2011, the El Rey certainly does provide less float in powder, but still allows for short radius turns with ease, and pow skiing is still rad with a little extra effort. The el rey has been a great ski in the park, both during firmer winter days, days in which the park has been covered with 2-3 inches of snow throughout the day, and during urban adventures. The El Rey really cuts up spring slush, and during spring days had no problem spinning off lips or negotiating deeper slush in route to the park or elsewhere.
Main things im stoked on with this ski-Near bomb-proof durability-I feel confident taking this ski anywhere any conditions and hitting concrete hard! Stiffness, as mentioned the EL Rey destroys crud, spring slush, and anything else with ease. the ski just feels solid, without feeling heavy. And of course, I only continue to ski the el rey because it is a freaking ton of fun. in no way has the el rey diminished the joy of skiing, and in every way has the el rey allowed me to enjoy the mountain in all conditions.
