Overall
I give the Salomon Suspects an 8 because they do what they were made to do and they do it well. There is a reason the top pros use this ski on the gnarliest park features: it is sturdy and dependable. You won't get any surprises when you are skiing hard on these puppies, and I thought that was the ski's strong point. It is a high end ski for kids who like to charge big jumps and hit the pipe, and it will absolutely hold its own on rails. If you want a ski that isn't about little jibs and buttery, playful maneuvers then you have come to the right place. The Salomon Suspect means business, and it will slay any park.
Performance
I rode these skis pretty hard all season in very questionable conditions and I thought they were a lot of fun in almost everything. They are obviously no powder ski but they handle ice like a champ, and they were a fun snappy ride. I can't say they are extremely playful, but with a good waxing they are fast as hell and you can ski as aggressively as you want.
Design
The skis look great with interesting topsheets and conservative bases. You can ski confidently on them, you'll feel like you have a solid set of ski on your feet ready to conquer the toughest features.
Value
I got a fantastic deal on my Suspects, and I've seen many places carry them far under retail, and even a retail price in the 500s isn't insane, although it is a park ski. Bottom line, you can easily get Suspects cheaper than comparable high end park skis.
Fit
I am 5'11'' 160lbs and 176cm was great for me.
Characteristics
On the stiffer side. Possibly the best skis for any size jumps you can find. Hold up very well at high speeds and are very poppy. Some may find they aren't the ideal stiffness for rails but they will do just fine, butters are not a problem once you get used to them, but a lighter skier could have some difficulty with butters and presses.
Durability
Aside from some top sheet chips and a couple of base repairs they held up well after hitting plenty of rails, walls and a rock here and there. Despite the ridiculous scrutiny they receive about their edges, I found that if they are detuned underfoot you shouldn't have any problems at all, and overall they had good durability, they were neither worse nor better than any comparable park ski I've seen.
Overall
I only give this product a 5 because of durability. But until Salomon gets their act together i would not suggest this product to a friend or even buy this product again.
Performance
The performance on the ski is awesome pretty much perfect it just has one major problem.
Design
This ski is extremely undurable everything to edge cracks or topsheet chippings. Coreshots this ski might be known as one of the least durable park skis out there. Everything else with the design is pretty good the graphic is cool.its light and has a very low swing weight. If Salomon could get there act together with the issues they could have an awesome park ski.
Value
The value is pretty bad. The ski is average priced $600 at the start of the season.
you have a great time on the ski until 2-3 weeks then they will break or need many repairs.
Fit
i think i should have gotten a smaller size because it would be easier to spin. But its just that i'm short and young. Something that just has to do with preference.
Characteristics
This ski is not too buttery but after you break it in the ski soon starts to become more playful.
Durability
Awful.
Overall
This is a great product for people who can afford new ski every year. it does not stand up very well to rails and it is very expensive. the ski ski works great in the park and most of the mountain.
Performance
The performance of this product is great it carves beautifully on the groomed runs and floats quite well in powder. i would recommend using this for park, groomers and not very deep powder. This ski turns great and feels awesome on your feet. on rails i found that it was a bit shaky and a little different from other skis, i dont know why.
Design
The look is great some nice colours, great placement of writing. I think that they should have made it more of a colour that chips would not be seen on as well, seeing as it is a park ski
Value
I think that the ski is a bit over priced fr what you get out of it. its a terrific ski if you have the money for skis every year.
Fit
These skis you should buy them a little big but if you prefer a shorter fit go with whatever you are most comfortable with. These being a park ski though it is harder to spin with a longer ski so think about what you use right now and what terrain you will be shredding to base the height you get on.
Characteristics
The flex pattern is good not the greatest but it will work for most skiers. it is quite flexy so you can get some nice butters
Durability
It gets lots of chips and the bases and edges get destroyed on rails.
Overall
awesome skis that are perfect for my style since I'm not to abusive and like more than just park skiing since some of my friends are noobs who hate the park.
Performance
Salomon Suspect 2011 feel just as nice forward and backwards. It's got great carving and great grip. It's lightweight and smooth riding but not great flotation in powder.
Design
Steezy top sheet that looks great with any setup and super sick with white STH 12 bindings.
Value
I got it for just over $600 with tax and was worth every penny.
Fit
I have 171cm Suspects and with my Salomon STH 12 bindings they fit perfectly together and feel comfortable at head height for me.
Characteristics
Full Wood Core from tip to tail offers optimum stability on snow and
powerful rebound. It maximizes ski/snow contact and filters vibrations.
Durability
Holding up fine but not really abusing my skis as much as other people might but are holding up just fine but the topsheet chips away a bit
Overall
I feel like this is an amazing ski with incredible preformance, and excetional feel. However, its durabiltty is what made the score lower from a 9.5. All in all I feel like the critizism isn't fully accurate for these ski's. If your bangin rails all day for most of the season yes they will get beaten up, but otherwise their a one of a kind.
Performance
Yes I was very content with these skis. They have good pop, super reactive perfect in jumps and pipe and can handle the rail very well ( even without the felxibility).
Design
This is really up to personal opinion. I feel the graphics where dope, but thats just me and I can't speak for everyone.
Value
I feel like it really depends. These skis do tend to be a hit and miss for the person. I've heard people complain about them and people refuse to ride anything else after hittin the mountain with them on.
Fit
I got 171 center mount even though they are a bit tall. I did this because I knew with a ski lie the suspects which can hit back country, groomers and park I would be able to use them for a while even if my interests change in terms of types of skiing.
Characteristics
The Suspects hold a pefect flex for the intensions of the ski. This is a stiffer flex in order to shred any jump BIG or small. The ski's are certainly not a jib ski in terms of flex (they are not soft)
Durability
Again it depends, i you are a big jibber and hit rails a lot and really use for your summer setup then NO. Their edges, despite being reinforced this season and made thicker, will be damadge, chipped and worn away. However, if your ridin these prodominatley in comps. or jumps I would say they will last a lot longer.
