Overall
Most fun ski I've ever owned. Lots of really cool pow sticks on the market, but if you want a sure bet, buy these. You won't be sorry.
Performance
I believe it was Winter 04-05 when every powder hound I knew in Tahoe was on the Shane McConkey Volant Spatulas. They were Shane's reverse camber brainchild. My friends claimed on them - orgasm in the pow. But out of the pow on the groomers, they looked as fun as a heart attack. They just weren't groomer friendly at all. If I remember correctly, Squaw Valley even banned lift ops from skiing them, worried about law suits.
Eventually, K2 and Shane connected, perfected, and FINALLY I got on the Pontoon last winter. LIKE A DREAM. It is absolutely like surfing, cliche or not, and you straight feel like you're cheating, floating through the pow. I'm a big cheater, so I'm cool with this. They still suck on the groomers, but I guess you can't have your cake and eat it too.
Design
I wish they would have changed the graphics. 09-10 and 10-11 are the same, just different colors.
Value
Totally worth it. They're not cheap, but it's one of the best skis on the market from one of the best ski companies on the market.
Fit
They come in 169, 179 and 189.
189 seemed big to me when I order them, but was perfect. Less effective edge because of the rocker makes you want the length. Plus, more length means more surface area = more float.
Characteristics
Will seem soft if you're not used to rocker. But they're just right when being used at home - surfing through the pow.
Durability
Holds up great. A tough ski. Be careful storing them though. If they sit on their tails too long they get warped.
