t doesn't take coaching, summer camp, or perfect gear. All you gotta do is fucking send it. Last year I decided to start freestyle, I saw all my friends doing cool tricks. I knew how to slide boxes but not rails. So I decided to go out the first day of the season and try my luck, I fell and and shit on a tube. Christmas holidays go by and I still haven't learned. One day mid January I was with a group of friends and in that group there was someone at the same skill level as me. I said if he tried the rail, id try it. He stomped it then it was my turn. I did it. I cleared the rail. The stoke level was through the fucking roof. I was so pumped up 2 rail hits later I cranked the send knob and tried to hit a cannon, I fucked up. Went 90 to 50/50 in seconds, nutted my dick, then flopped over the rail, tried to hold on and fell right on to my back. For the rest of the season I basically just slid rails, did a fluke 270 off once or twice. Late season I learned 270s on by just sending, I had a buddy show me a few tips. I got 270s on to a down tube before I could even front 2 off a rail. Summer comes, I went out to COC and had a great time with some friends. Only bad part is I did fuck all in the park. Tried to get my 270s on lock one day and tried some spins the other. Looking back I should have for sure tried more and not just fucked around all day but who cares its summer camp whistler is the dream it was a blast. One summer day I was craving some skiing so I built a backyard jib, worked on some tricks for the rest of the summer. Got 2 ons, blindswap, and blind 2 out. Months later snow is on the ground. I stepped up my style and was pumped for the season to start. East coast has had a really shit start so all we had to work with was a small hike park with 4 features. Credit to blue mountain Ontario for putting that shit together it was really good for the amount of natural snow we had (0cm). I took my summer tricks to actual snow and it felt good. I got some of them down and was excited for more. The real season has now started and I have realized one thing from my first year of tricks, ALL YOU GOTTA DO IS FUCKING SEND IT. First night in the real park I was fucking amped. Of course the first chair I get on stops for 15 mins with me halfway up. I get off the lift, crank chief keef, and huck my fucking meat. 2 ons to every rail first hit, I look like a Apache fucking helicopter. SENDING that shit to the fucking moon. Theres a nice tube, Im looking to two on when my buddy from the lift yells "do a 4 on" I say ok and he notches me. I think to myself I better just huck my fucking meat and crank the send knob to 9999. I ski down the run, spot the rail, close my eyes, and send my fucking meat. 4 on. stomped.
Tdlr; if you want to broaden your bag of tricks, all you gotta do is send it. you dont need an expensive skiing program, you dont need summer camp, all you have to do is go every night and day to the hill you can and just fucking send it. pce.
me trying a tube in 2015, then me skiing in 2016
