Wyclef Jean = Future President of Haiti?

"Hip-hop star Wyclef Jean will run for the presidency of Haiti, reports say.

The multi-platinum artist and producer, who emigrated from the Caribbean nation to the United States as a child, is set to announce his candidacy for the November 28 Haitian election, Canadian newspaper Le Droit reports.

Jean, 37, has been a public face for fundraising efforts to help the impoverished nation rebound from January's devastating earthquake."

Thoughts? I never think popular stars running for a political office is a good idea, but he has done a ton of work towards raising money for relief efforts.

but cereally I heard he got in some trouble for allegedly stealing money from some Haiti foundation..not sure if the claims had any evidence...but it was all over the news a little while ago

Here's the thing... even if he doesn't individually help the nation, he could certainly raise the awareness of everything that's happened over there... plus, I have a feeling that if he didnt think he could do something to fix things down there, he would not be doing this...

there are definitely complexities to it all, but hopefully  WHOEVER gets elected down there on nov 28 is able to help that country... even though at this point? its likely going to be Wyclef... you KNOW people are going to vote for that dude... they love him down there.
