Critique my Time Lapse video

really sick for what you worked with! some good choice of shots

Thanks I wanted to get some night time driving shots but never got around to it.

This was great. You're so lucky to live in such a beautiful place. Look at those cloud formations!

I just have wet mossy crap... Maybe I can film a slug? haha

It's too bad this couldn't be 1080p (older GoPro?). You could create some great(er) shots!

that was sooo fucking sick!! the song was nice too. fave was the one with the jet streams

How did you make the time lapse's? Was the GoPro put into picture burst mode and then you just combined all the pics into a video, or did you shoot video then speed it up a lot?

that was so sick. but also didn't it take forever to convert the files before you edited them, and to write the files into your edting program (final cut?)

windmill shot was sick! i wish i had a bluebird day to go shoot with my gopro. but unfortunately its shitty out.

You asked for a critique, so I'll give you one. Overall though, as a precurser, I'd like to say that I was impressed and it was very well done to be shot on a go pro.

The first shot is lopsided - if you look at the horizon its slanted. You can fix that in your editing program, but keep it in mind next time when you're shooting.

Second shot was boss, although I thought the transition was a little too long and I didn't like how it immediately started zooming in. Just leaving it wide would've been fine IMO. It was sick that you got such a cool focus on that shot though. Ver nice.

Loved the car shots. Very cool effect.

I wasn't a huge fan of the black transitions. I feel like they aren't creative and that you could've put something a little more fitting in there. Personally, I think that they take away from the video a little bit by disrupting the flow, you know? You go from sped up video to nothing, and then back to sped up video - its just quite the jump I guess.

1:50 I'm impressed you were able to line this up so well with no viewfinder...verry nicely done. The windmill points the viewers eye to the sky where it is entertained by the clouds. Good job on this one.

Second song was a little too energetic I thought...I'm not sure if it was the second song I guess, but just that second segment...

The water shot was cool - if you notice, when the sun comes out it lightens the grass but darkens the water, almost like a natural "negative" effect? Lawl I like it. I thought the angle was a little off though, meaning that it felt tilted to the right a little - again, look at the horizon. You can't really tell that through a GoPro though, so thats just something to take care of in post.

The overzoom on that shot too was a little distracting. As a rule of thumb, if I'm doing zooms in post I really try to avoid going too far out because then you get said black lines and your video doesn't fill the screen anymore, which is a bit awks unless you have something else transitioning into it.

2:26 Transition from black/white to color = fabulous. Fit the song (surprisingly) and that blue REALLY pops out at you. I loved it.

I'm not sure what that black, cut off corner was in the top right but I think I would've tried to get rid of it.

I just went through the video and picked it apart. Overall mang, I'm very impressed, you put together a pretty cool piece of work here. I little tweaking I think would do it good, but you should be proud of this. Keep some of these things in mind though so the next time you shoot your video will be even better.

was it filling up your card? cause i put mine out there for about an hour or so and i have to take it out and download it to my comp real quick

First you set how many picture. Got to setting and set it by finding p2 p5 p10. Each number stands for how long in between pictures Then you Set the camera on the blinking camera symbol to shot it. I downloaded google picasa to make the time lapse its free. Select make a movie in google picasa and then go to transitions and select time lapse mode.

or this is a noon question but how did u get the shot look like it was moving or did u move it manualy (i have never done a time lapse)

No worries mang, anytime.

And to FS_Rider, you do that in post. You can zoom in on the footage (usually about 120% or so) and then set keyframes so it pans left to right or wherever you want it. I guess thats the easiest way.
