Sno-Flex ski area at a Virginia christian university, first in US

Looks like the first summer dry ski area in the US will be at a christian university in VA. Ironic with all the hate on NS over religion that a religious university is putting up a legit sounding dry slope.

I thought i heard that it will only be open to students and relatives of students. that would be nice if more resorts would install this on a slope and could potentially stay open year round.

that is pretty close to where I ski.

Liberty university may be a fucking joke as far as academics go, but they do a good job of making facilities like their indoor track facility and now this.

I'm a student at Liberty.

It will be open for students all the time.
Non-students are given specific days/hours, plus it will cost more.


Oh and Liberty has a crapload of money, 11,000 campus students and 24,000 online students (that's me) really brings in the $.

There is a video of some of the construction crew skiing/boarding/tubing down the partially completed hill, give me 5 mins to find it.

someone donated a SICK amount of money, and they used it to build a whole bunch of stuff.
i have ton's of friends who go there, so i will have a place to stay.  about a 3 hour drive.  so sick.  i am about to go to the college visit day, and just ski the whole time.

The slope will be open to the public at various times; however, current and prospective students will be given priority in usage.

that place is like 30 minutes from my old college, they have their own hockey rink and they used to give us snow for jibs whenever we wanted, which was pretty cool...i remember hearing when this idea first popped up, too bad they didnt get it going before i graduated.

oh well, i live in colorado now...suuuuuuuch a bummer i wont be able to ski this next year, lemme tell ya

I am so stoked that they built this.  Where are those deep pockets?  I'm hoping one of those types will step up and provide $$ for Huck and Splash. 

It still kind of bugs me how the snowflex guys build jumps.  Look at all the snowflex areas and they always build the jumps with a super step down.  The drop down to the knuckle is about twice as big as it would be for a park hit.  You can see how guys are buckling even when they land in the sweet spot.  I'm not hating on those guys, but I can't figure out why they insist on building jumps that way.  They could easily build something bigger and safer with less of a landing impact.

yeah, I am so stoked about the snowflex. I go to school there and live on campus and i plan to take full advantage of the snowflex. its gonna be sweet, and its open to the public... so no worries. but not sure what you guys have heard about liberty but I love the place and it has all the same majors, athletics and campus stuff as a normal state school and now snowflex. i am pumped!

well you need to just go ahead and tie yourself to some sort of evangelical society

Liberty U was jerry falwell's creation, they got all their money from his evangelical profiteering and from donations he solicited from the hardcore christian community that was intoxicated by the idea of the school's purported "mission"

this was funded by a donation from a personal will.
something upwards of 5 million, put towards bettering student facilities.
they have been doing tons of stuff.
