Is DB even still around?
Tim makes some great points here.
Not everyone is so lucky to live in a ski town full time - and even for those who do, summer gets long waiting for the snow to return! We at BOONE are working with an older skate manufacturer (who have more experience in Skating) to produce a custom a BOONE Skateskeez which will be sick to practice jibbing on for all the times you are off the hill or away from snow! Here is a prototype photo without graphics or anything. We have learned that if we make the frame too long, you can't push off and skate with it as easy and it also becomes heavier. This length maximizes stability while still allowing the skater to push off effectively.
This project is still in early stages but we'd love to hear your CONSTRUCTIVE feedback. The idea is not to build something that will be an exact replica of skiing - but rather a fun skate that has many similarities and synergies with jibbing so you can have fun practicing your stuff when you're not on the snow!
agressive inlining is about as cool as having aids it doesnt look at all like skiing like everyone thinks so tho and its a shame. go skateboarding already
looks sick, but i find that that one of the main things that define jibbing on skis are the edges and the base material of the ski. so maybe if you create a skate that has a ski base with edges underfoot so that the edge controle and slide would be identical to skiing. this would make pretzles, switchups, and pretty much every other rail trick feel the same as skiing.
good luck with prototypes i hope it works out.
Hey guys! I don't get to check out the forums on NS nearly as much as I'd like to and usually other folks on our team do the posting. However, I want to thank you for all of the constructive feedback. The posts in this thread have been excellent. Developing new products is a difficult task. As a company, you want to build something that is fun, durable, cool, has a niche and meets its purpose - among many other things.
Not every idea comes to fruition but we are dedicated to work to build products that our customers want and can enjoy at a price you can afford! The ideation behind the SkateSkeez is to (as another NS'er put it) "feed the addiction during the summer" or whenever you're off the snow.
Companies (like ourselves) are criticized for not coming up with new, never-before-produced products and designs and they are also criticized when they tread into uncharted waters. Some posts suggested this is a joke. I'd say that person is both right and wrong. At BOONE, we are 100% about Freeride skiing and we do throw out crazy ideas jokingly that may be a completely bad idea or a brilliant one.
Either way, we appreciate the feedback. The Skateskeez may never be manufactured for sale, but we do promise to listen to what you want and continue to pursue new ideas. We are always interested in constructive feedback and we appreciate all of your support.
Take care and ride hard before the snow is gone! I know I've been enjoying the great N. Tahoe park set-ups and conditions!

I think the other thing needed if you didn't straight up inline skate would be something that involved your actual ski boots. Ski boots and skates feel a lot different because of how high they are on your leg.
Oh and here is a Jeff Stockwell to add another video
