after seeing the posts people were making in the thread about who they thought were the most influential skiers of all time, i am beginning to think some NSers need to be informed or put in the know about freeskiing history.
if you read down this list and you dont know who or what im talking about, you need to go get on some research right away. its not the young guns coming up today with talls and G-Suits on. its of people like Rex Thomas, the 3 Phils, Tanner Hall of course, Evan Raps, Chris Turpin, Dave Chrichton, Candide Thovex, Eric Pollard, Boyd Easley, Iannick B (last name i cant spell, not gonna try), JF Cusson, JP Auclair, Jon Olsson and all the big pros from back in the day. all the influential film companies like PBP and MSP for doing what theyve done for skiing, not to mention the greatness of Warren Miller. all the guys who were there in the very beginning. no not Wayne Wong era, more like Glen Plake (whom ive had the pleasure of meeting. favorite skier of all time), Seth Morrison, Doug Coombs R.I.P., and the New Canadian Air Force when they were still called such. a word should be said about Jonny Moseley. he is the one who brought our fledgling sect of skiing to the world. if you dont respect him, you are a fool.
im not saying people like Takahara Walnuts and the Green Goblin arent major influences to skiing and that the hyphy edit was not a historic world event, because it was. im not saying HH isnt one of the most ridiculously talented skiers of all time, im just saying that people need to learn theyre history so we dont have ignorant fucks asking "oh why did you say Jonny Moseley was influential? youre gay if you like Jonny Moseley." (not actual quote).
get learned.
