 well just incase you didnt see the thread is ski gabber, heres a vid of the afterbangs and a bit of their construction. peep this shit. It explains the contruction.

I think its a sick idea but the only thing im worried about is if we are going to see the same snapping we do with skateboardes. For some reason i see this ski snapping very easy but im probably wrong.

btw i hate how the chick makes it seem like skiing is extinct...bitch.

i wonder if a ski that is built like a skateboard is able to resist the impact on the skis while using them.. the force affecting a ski should be considerably higher than force affecting skateboards since skateboards have wheels below which catch a lot of impact (excluding rails) but i'm not a skateboarder so i might be completely wrong here

I wouldn't worry about that. Skateboards go under higher stress I'd say. First, you generally land on hard pavement when skateboarding, while skiing, you land on softer snow(I won't say soft snow, because sometimes you do land on ice), and the landings are generally sloped, which is often not the case in skateboarding. Wheels actually put more stress on the deck, because then all the pressure is applied on the x square inches that the trucks cover, while skiing the entire skis absorb the impact. This seems like a good construction now, as long as LINE can protect the ski from water getting inside the ski, then they're golden.

I was reading up on these skis today and work and they sound awesome.. 7 layer skate deck construction with ten carbon stringers for snappiness, they look sick too.. im just wondering what happens if you take a hit on the sidewall.. hopefully it doesnt rip out half the ski

my experience is that skateboards are pretty durable, but they're not being put out in snow...
i'm hoping that they put the sidewall and edge together in a way that the edge won't pull away and you get water in the core. even chipping the epoxy off the sidewall would make your core kind of vulnerable i guess..

i think they'll figure it out though.

you all are foolish, skateboarding is one of the most rugged sports to do with your equipment.

do you think they build skateboards this way because its not the most burly and most power transformation from a wood product.......obviously they build skateboards this way because a 2 foot piece of wood can take the abuse of the strongest materials out there, while still maintaining a natural feel  and lightweight.

i LOVE the graphics and I love how they keep on introducing new stuff to the sport, just hope they are as durable as "normal" ski's or more durable...

guess the future will tell but its looking good if you ask me

wouldnt work in firefox for me, i had to use safari. download flip4mac if you don't have it, that might solve your problem.

anybody else who skateboards have major doubts? Disclaimer: I definitely want to try these before writing them off but..
I skateboarded the last 9 years and got pretty good.. Had a few people flowing me gear for a while /claim..
Anyway.. several observations about skateboards..
1)They lose pop over time, quicker than skis in my experience.
2) They die a fast death when used in the rain.. Sure line thought of this one but still..
3) They snap. Frequently, after not all that much use. At my peak I was skating every day, and a deck would rarely last me a month.
Seems to me landing on your nose/tail on skis would produce much more leverage and breaking force than landing non-centered on a skateboard.
Just some random thoughts..

This is an interesting idea.  The skis will be stronger than skateboards due to the addition of fiberglass within the construction.  I am curious to see how they withstand the water.  I read somewhere that they have been in the works for 4 years, so I assume they have already ironed out many of the kinks.

I'm optimistic on this one. I'm glad Line is being innovative and trying new designs. The several concerns I have are that they will be way to flexy, making them terrible for jumps. Also, these will lose pop due to the sparse amount of materials used. I hope these do turn out well.

actually they dont. i just sat through my meeting and found out the true deal on it. the whole core is impregnated with a sealer, kinda like staining each piece of wood that goes into the core. regardless of how much you chip off or nick out of the sidewall the core WILL NOT rot or delam (well, the topsheet might, core shouldnt).

the profile of the ski looks flawless, and they thrashed them in demo's and films and are holding up like a champ. line's team has been trying to tear them up and its more durable than they all expected. butter zones on it are perfect, right ahead of the binding, the footy/pictures of guys buttering on them is epic, ive never seen anything like it.
