"Full Tilt" is not a response

NEW RULE

If someone has shin bang or toe bang and makes a thread about it, asking for help, simply posting:

"Full Tilt!"

or

"get full tilt!"

is not an answer, its not even worth posting. No boot fits anyone perfectly and we cant go around perscribing full tilts as the universal cure for every boot problem.

It makes newschoolers look bad, and I just know some young and impressional kids have actually gone and bought full tilts off protorjones or wherever without even trying them on because this forum has a huge hard on for them.

Im no boot fitting guru but I do know one boot can never fit every foot. So please NS, knock it off.

No kidding. I hate it when people say that the shin bang is caused by your boots not fitting correctly. Shin bang is caused by landing backseat. Learn how to ski and don't land backseat and you don't get shinbang.

Believe it or not a boot thats too big can play a huge role in having shin bang. But yeah skiing in the back seat is almost always the main factor.

Are we still allowed to say get intuition liner and strap the fuck out of your powerstrap?

Full tilts design and liner makes them better then any other boot for shin bang if they fit you tho.

i answered that just because i didn't get any shin bang since i have full tilt. that was just my opinion. I think that those boots are really comfortable and those are fitting really well on me.

oh yeah im not saying dont recomend trying the boot. but explain your response a bit atleast.

theres a huge difference between

"get full tilts"

and

"I suggest you go to a reputable boot fitter and maybe try out some full tilts to see how well they fit you. Full Tilt's shell design and intuition liner can help emlimnate certain pressure points and might fix your shin bang problem..."

Sorry, I had to.  I like their design though, but think that dalbello's is similar, and a wider footbed, better for me.

I don't think there are many boots that CAUSE shinbang.

Ill fitting boots and bad skiing technique are the main culprits.
Sure, the muscles in the shin always undergo some strain from high impact landings etc and thats why booster straps and a well fitting boot can help, but when people say things like the 'Gel strips on the inside of the new Lange Freestyle 80 tongue gets rid of shinbang' - it's a gimmick and it is rubbish

true that, if you get a boot that has been identified to fit your foot correctly, and then molded and modified to fit right from there, it will making skiing so much better.

people asking about shin bang really need good fitting boots most of the time but saying full tilt doesnt work for everyone.

but i did get a pair of hot doggers fitted and molded and dear god there amazing.

Nicest boot i've tried on, if you've got a skilled bootfitter that is down, jsut get him to beat out the sides a bit if your foot is to wide for it, that'll always get a perfect fit in every boot...jsut a heap of work.

The head bootfitter at the place i work jsut said yeh, if you really want them and your foots not right i'll show you how to fit it, but you're doing the work yourself

There are a couiple things that cant be changed more then a couple mm in some boots especially full tilts but yea that's pretty much true.

Yeah the Full Tilt shell is easier to work on than other boots, but it is also thinner, so there is less room for huge adjustment

 none of the shops ive been around here carry full tilts. i did try on a ralche or whatever but didn't really like it, who knows. rampage /w ID liners doin it for me. My old liner gave me way worse shinbang. There's  so many more factors than just the boot, backseat landings are definitely one, but even a ski can help out. I've been riding my Invaders all year, then 2 days on my scratches at my shinbang was back just like that, a softer ski can defintiely ease up some of the problems if your landing backseat

^ that can be a blanket quote about every overlap buckle boot made. Same construction and mold just with shinier buckles and plastic. Its the 3-piece design of FT, cable system, superior liner and light weight that makes it different

i didn't really read what anyone else in this thread said but i've had technica boots for years and got the WORST shin bang and lost my toenail after a single day last winter.

i just got full tilts a month ago and i've forgotten what shinbang even is!!! and my bruised toenail hasn't hurt once, wow.

try it.

But on the real, the best boot to avoid shinbang is the one that fits your foot/calf the best. If you have wide feet and you buy Full Tilts, you're a dumbass. The best thing to do is to go to a knowledgeable bootfitter and spend some time figuring out what boot is best for your foot shape. That simple. In the end though, Smokey's right... backseat causes shinbang every time, no matter what.

funny, I'm using technicas for the first time ever this year and I can land back seat all day and not worry about shin bang (not that I do).

yes except all the buckle boots have different molds...full tilts are nothing different then the old raichles except for the new liners they incorporate into them. the liner is the only thing that Full Tilt has made compared to the old boot pretty much, besides maybe a foot board or something. its not new and innovative but they are amazing.

I loved the crap out of my SPKs, and guess what I have now? Full tilts... and I am not so in love with them. Yet, anyways. Just some heel work to do. GOt some longer bales, and the stiffer tongue helps a little.

I never got shin bang with the big huge fucking belt that they call a powerstrap on those things, no dead toe nails either. Must have fit right.

the amount of love that goes to what is overall and undinably the worst boot on the market right now boggles my mind.    I mean the best thing to do with a pair of full shits is to pull the intuition liner out of them and put it in a good boot.

this post is very true. i had boots that were too big for me and i got mad shinbang.. i didnt even land backseat that much except when trying new stuff and messing it up. as for the secont part.. i'm probably the guy who said the gel strips on the langes get rid of shinbang.. although i dont think i worded it that way. I have the Lange freestyle 80's (which are just fluid 80's with new graphics and a couple small tweaks) and i havent gotten shinbang once yet... not saying its because of the tongue, although it makes them super comfortable, they just fit me perfect.

bottom line is (as stated above) get boots that fit and/or learn to ski centered in your stance/ski well.

That solves it!!!

I also get annoyed when 1 person generalizes something that may not be true for thousands of other people, and acts like it is law.  The fact of the matter is that there are tons of great boots out there, and people should stop telling those new people that one way is the only way, because they will most likely go out and drop a ton of money for a boot they might not need.
