Material Used on Rails or Boxes

As we all know that all rails at resorts are made out of piping, but if you aren't very good with metal(welding), then you can use PVC. There are two kinds at our local hardwear store, a gray cheaper version and the traditional white heavy duty kind. For boxes, the most asked question is "What is the stuff you use to slide on it?" Well its something called Puckboard. We have all seen it on the side of hockey rinks. I have found a website that sells it in 50' rolls for $25-$35.

I use UHMW on my boxes (ultra high molecular weight plastic)
it's self-lubricating and one of the smoothest and fastest plastics out there. it's expensive, but worth it.

Two more things. Plexi-glass doesn't work because it shatters, and make sure that you cover the edge of the plastic with some metal strips, because if you fall of the box, the edge of the plastic will get all cut up and chip.

i put lexan on mine. it was sorta expensive but you can buy it at home depot and its easy to use.
