Yet another hellbent mounting question

im getting my bentz mounted tomorrow. i will use these almost for everything. i probably wont use em in the park that often. now i ski lots of pow. and i ski pow switch a lot of the time. now should i get em mounted true center? and whats the diff between that and core center?

true is the exact middle of the ski, so measure and divide by 2, and core is the thickest part of the ski

bump, i got the same question, eric maybe you can help me. i measured it out real fast and the difference was really small, so the guy at the shop suggested i go core center because its almost true center, but its in the suggested mounting range for what the skis were designed for. i still got to bring them a boot before they mount them so its not too late to change...

go with core center. the difference will hardly be noticable, but if your an anal perfectionist who has to have everything true center like me, go true center. moral of the story, if you were set on true center, go true center, but if you dont know or dont care, core center will be just fine

Bump... sorry to bring this thread back from the dead.

I'm getting 179cm Hellbents with Jesters. I don't ski switch too much but I want the skis to be able to handle switch well without compromising pow/all-mountain performance. I'm getting mixed messages from all the other threads/advice that I'm getting. I'm thinking +4 or +5... what would you suggest? Please, no uneducated answers, I want legit answers only from people who have Bents or are qualified shop techs.

i have the same ones and i mounted them whatever the factory center was on the ski. They are AWESOME for which ever pow/all-mountain/swithc skiing you're going to do. Now that's personal preference, but you've probably not skiied a ski like this, i'm guessing, so it may seem a bit worrysome. If so, I would suggest you get the jester schizo if you have any doubts. I know theyre a bit more but if you want a true center and then move it back for all moutain, i guess that would satisfy your worries in my book.

From what i have read its seems like everyone says to mount as close too center as you are comfortable with. The reason being the farther away from center you mount the more likely you are too wheely because you are mounting outside of the stiff part of the ski. They have said this regardless of if you are going to ski them forwards or 50/50.

Im mounting jesters on my 189 probably 2 back from center. I have heard that thats like the best spot.

I had my bentz mounted by a shop at core center, and it was pretty sick. I got new bindings because my griffons bitched out on me and i had those mounted at true center, that was the shwizz. I definitely prefer the true center, they swing much nicer when spinning and handle better when going switch. If you want to do arial maneuvers and ride backwards I'd suggest true center, but if you're a straight shooter and are just looking to ride down a hill core center will make you feel good on powdersnow.

I agree, i was on 179's at 5cm forward of midsole, and the tail was way to soft, so when i got ep's i went dead center and then i can get a little pop out of the skis
