my favorite 08 ski was the dumont, but they aren't making them next year.

Im liken my Head J.O. Pros, nice and light

so i'm 6'1 and about 165 pounds. probably won't be doing too many rails, more for spinning off bigger jumps in the park.

pipe cleaners 181cm. probably the best park ski out there if your not doing many rails.

i agree but if you do plan to hit rails go with the ar6 it has the s7 base which is made of a harder material than the pipe cleaner and will hold up to the abuse or volkl walls both amazing park skis

I think Boones are, or very near, the most durable ski out there if that's one major quality you are looking for.

How the fuck would any one know? only a handful of people, all of whom have some hookup/sponsored/paid by boon, have skied the skis, and non of them have skied them long enough to know anything about the durability. Get the fuck of Boones fucking Cock. Free shitty skis are still shitty skis.


What the fuck is going on with Boone? they effectively copy the Jon Olsen graphics. Their biggest powder ski is 180cm with a 93mm waist. Herro! this is no longer 2004. 93mm is a midfat, not a powder ski. I wonder what factory builds their skis, I highly doubt the Boone guys build them themselves.

It is hard to label one park ski to be the best, when there are so many different options. Park skis, like all skis differ amongst themselves. You have fatter ones. you have skinny ones, you have stiff ones, you have soft ones, on and on and on. It is harder to know if you would perfer a fatter softer ski like the anthems, or go for a stiffer more narrow ski like the Troublemaker. 

All that Aside, in my experience you tend to want a stiffer park ski around 85mm for big jumps. Stiffer skis tend to give you more pop, as well as being less likely to 'fold' under you when you land back seat. I think 85mm is about right since it is not so big as to be a pain to swing around, yet you still have a solid platform for landing on.

Based on what you said above, I would take a good look at the Fisher Addict Pros, or even Addicts (slightly softer), I have heard great things about both skis.

not true. nobody gets free skis, first off. secondly, there are more than a handful of people who have bought boone skis. thirdly, boone does not just copy jon olsson graphics...if you looked at the site you would see the graphics concepts and the way boone incorporates the ability to choose graphics for skis.

I have barely seen any positivity from you about anything billy. maybe you should lighten the fuck up and realize that there is a new company that likes to give a quality product to the industry rather than a company that emphasizes features of a shitty product. More than just the sponsored riders or the company workers have bought/rode the skis, get your head out of your ass and realize that even though these guys have only been around 2 years, the skis haven't gotten a single bad review, unlike many skis that have been around for perhaps a decade.
As you should know, it costs a lot of money to make skis efficiently and in a way that makes the product durable and appealing to customers. That doesn't allow a startup company to have 10+ different ski options, like K2 or Salomon. Shit, have some faith and be positive. Perhaps a bigger ski/bigger ski options are coming out in the near future.

I know a handful of misguided soles bought boone skis, but they did not buy them last season, In fact they bought them affter all the Glacier Camps had closed, as well as most of the Mt. Hood camps. So unless they took them to the Souther Hemisphere I highly doubt that any one who has bought Boone skis, including yourself has actually skied the pair they bought. Let alone ski them long enough to get an idea of the durability of the skis which is what you were claiming in the first place.

As for not having the means to create a bigger ski, It sounds to me like Boone skis is going through some other manufacturer, and instead of being able to create their own shapes, were given a list by the manufacture to choose from. Since the Manufacture is in no way up-to-date with the sport their powder ski option was 93mm in the waist and toped out at a puny 180cm. Or the Boone guys just can't ski well. No matter what to call a 180cm 93mm ski a powder ski these days (with no larger option above 185cm) is just asking to get crap.

Lastly give me a list of 5 reviews on the ski by people who have ridden the skis for atleast 5 days and are not affiliated with Boone Skis.

I highly doubt that. You even said before hand that you have become predictable in which skis you would recomend. Souls are bought for so little these days. It used to take at least a few free pairs of skis. No it appears people will sell it for only a form on a single pair of skis.

As for Having faith in smaller companies. I do, Boone is just not one of them. They way they first started marketing their skis on here turned me away from them for good. Smaller 'core' companies that I do have faith in include Moment, Blue House, Praxis, as well as many others. They did things right, instead of spaming NS with bullshit.

Discounts. And there is a deal for the pro riders. Maybe it's not enough just to want to support a company?

For your information, there were riders that were riding Boone around tahoe last year, more than a few misguided 'soles.' Test riding, etc. I haven't skied the pair I bought, no. But I have skied the exact same type of ski at mt. hood. I never said I had skied them long enough to know the durability. But others have skied them 90+ days and not a single problem has occurred. the only ski that has EVER broken with boone was dropped off of a ski rack going 85 mph on a highway and even then it delammed after a few runs. I suggest you take your qualms to the owner himself. He's on NS, BOONE_SKIS. go for it.
Boone has an advertising package on NS, the right is given to promote. I'm not going to lie, there has been an excess of shameless self-promotion going on, perhaps we can quiet down a little bit with that. But there is still hype which you can't stop. people who don't ride Boone suggest Boone too do you want to get angry at every one of those kids too?

However, I can almost guarantee you that this season Boone will have a ton of good vibes, both from skiers who purchased the product and from the company itself. By the way, if you are trying to downplay Boone, all you are doing is creating more publicity for them and allowing me to reply to your argument.
There is not a powder/specific ski yet but I am pretty sure that there will be something big coming out in a season or two. Look at DPS, they have powder specific skis. Look at the beginnings of Ninthward: park-specific. Boone is trying to bridge the two this season to create a ski that will work for both park and also for powder, and also a ski that will be good for the east coasters. I believe it works. A bigger ski would be nice, yes, but it will come. Eventually ALL companies will have large, fatty, and perhaps rockered skis, so there is no point in saying "oh, ____ company doesn't have a fat ski, therefore they must be owned by someone else or being given specific parameters." BOOHOO.

If the original poster wanted a jib ski, for playing around on the mountain I would suggest the Anthems or Invaders. If he wanted a powder jib ski, I would suggest Nordica Zeros most likely, or perhaps SFBs. Other than that, for big mountain skis, maybe the S6 or another larger, stiffer ski. It all depends on what the personal preferences are of the skier, which there are NONE so far for this guy.

Alas, we are thread jacking, and if you want to take up an argument with Boone I am not the person to bitch at.

XavierD, why do you always have to be so freaking negative about everything? You're the only guy on NS who consistantly hates on Boone, and its only because you have a bunch of mis-information on hand. You dislike how we introduced our skis out there, blame that on Me if you want, because I'm stoked about the skis that I'm riding, and I'm definitely the person who has posted the most about the skis



Let me clear some stuff up for you...

First of all, none of us at Boone are paid to bullshit. In fact... I can honestly say I havent been paid a hard cent for going around and repping for Boone. I've mainly just been doing it because.. well... its fucking fun! getting to talk about skis that you're stoked about when its 90 degrees out? Can't go wrong there... secondly... Matt Fry actually just BOUGHT the skis... He's not affiliated with the company, and hes not being paid by Boone or anything. he's stoked about the product, and talking them up the skis he invested in. He hasnt bullshitted about how hes ridden them or anything... the most he's done is seen them in action at Hood this year.

As far as who makes them and where they are made... I have no clue, and will continue to have absolutely no clue as to where and by whom they are made... Boone signed a non-disclosure agreement with the manufacturer, so I dont even really know if HE knows where they are made.  I do know however, they aren't made by some cheap manufacturer, because the durability and quality of the finish is of very top quality. No we did not just buy some package of pre-fabricated skis... Boone sent in the dimensions and the materials he wanted in his skis, and they made them.



This season Boone did not get a big huge long ski out on the market. The reason behind this is simple - only a small minority of skiers need a huge ski. Look at Armada? Look at Moment? Both of those companies started out with shorter, narrower skis that are more geared toward your park skier. Next year, we plan to get a bigger all mountain ski out there for sure.. but this season, we have what we have.

If you're trying to say that Boone is another Ninthward, and just goes to some disclosed manufacturer and puts their graphics on pre-fabricated skis, you're out of your mind. Boone is not Cambell. He actually cares about skiing, and is trying to put the best product he can out on the snow. We have 3 different graphics on our skis, and use bamboo in our cores, unlike the majority of companies who use poplar wood in theirs.



again, Boone didnt even copy the JO Pros. They look very similar, and its very annoying that this happened, but both Boone, and Head came up with the idea at the same time. Boone had these graphics set up for his skis a couple of years ago, and got them pressed and ready to go about 2 years ago , just like Head has had the JO Pros. The graphics were already set in stone, and being layed down on skis when the first releases of the graphics were out, and its not like he was going to change them just because of what Head was doing with their skis. Its just coincidental, and it sucks, kinda.. but sometimes people have the same idea, it happens.

TO ANSWER THE QUESTION.... As far as park skis this year, you have a lot to choose from. Every company has a park specific ski out there. Find out the price range you want to spend, the dimensions you think would be cool.. whether you want them symmetrical, or non symmetrical, what the core is made out of, how stiff they are, etc. Look at the specifics, and decide from there.

I'm not normally this sold on a ski...in fact, I was ready to get anthems until Alex_G told me about Boone, and got me through to Sean here. Total change in decision after about 2 hours of discussion.

Sorry for the double post...to clear another thing up I just noticed, Sean is right. I'm not on a team or anything, so I could just go around and sell the Boones and ride Anthems again if I wanted.

dude i figured it out, boone has sick skis, but the marketing was screwed. boone and its affiliates always brag about the graphics, which is retarted to do if they are in any way similar to anything else out their, because you will get beten down for it. this beting will only be worse the more they brag abut the grafics. no matter how good the skis are, if affiliates review them, people think it is not credible. bluehouse makes super similar skis and everone likes them, just because of a different marketing strategy. so sick skis, bad marketing.

as for the boone skis issue, unless you have touched/rode the skis for yourself dont judge them, i personally dont like the graphics all that much, th chicks thing seems like its being overused lately (i.e. burton love line), and i cannot speak for performance cause i havent ridden them. ppl that are hypin or dissin the company shouldnt say a thing unless theyve actually ridden the shit cause otherwise no one will actually know for real what the company is all about.

strange.  there is no doubt that bamboo is an amazing material due to its fiber arrangement.  but "practically stronger than steel"?  a piece of grade 60 rebar has an allowable tensile stress of 60 ksi.  a series of US Navy researching of bamboo for its structural properties reports an allowable tensile stress of 4 ksi (ultimate tensile strength 18 ksi).  but i was only able to get bamboo coupons to get to 3.5 ksi (with ultimate tensile strength of 14 ksi) before the culms failed.

I havent tried either of them though.. at all the demos last year the only skis by them i tried out were the lords and the czars
