Mt Shasta in California

my aunt has a house really close to there, she said I could go live there if I take care of the house, lawn, and pool.

Is this Mountain any good? How is the park? What are the approximate opening and closing dates?

It is like 10 minutes from the ski park, depending on where you are in the town.  the skipark usually closes around april 20th or so abouts, and opened early december, or whenever they get enough snow.  the park is sick sometimes.  we all call it "the shiest" because its kinda shiesty, but the park crew is sick and work hard to make some innovative things that insurance probably doesnt cover.  Usually people go up before and after the park closes to places like bunny flats and the old ski bowl, which are significantly higher in elevation.  sleds are allowed in the old ski bowl, so there is a lot of that.    I'm glad to answer any more questions you have.

you should also take advantag of the actual mountain. Def some opportunities for some good cascade volcano skiing in the summer and stuff. Although, last I heard a ton of wind blew off the snow from this year.

Anyways, theres a lot of good summer skiing potential if youre willing to hike for it and it would be worth it.

Oh cool, it sounds better than I was expecting.

I live in New Jersey/NYC, I was planning on going there for a month or so at either the beginning or end of the season (or maybe both I guess). I ski at Mountain Creek, and although this past season was my first I'm already tired of the short season, icey conditions, and the shitty park crew which doesn't even pretend to work durring the day.

But yea I have a girlfriend who is worth sticking around for. I think she will be willing to relocate with me maybe by next year, we are both growing tired of the lifestyle here.

you could ski mt. ashland too. it produced pep fujas and kept chris collins entertained for a year. it would only be 1.5 hrs away.

i had a blast at shasta, but i dont know if it could hold that entertainment for a month. But the opportunities for ski mountaineering and just BC shit are numerous, and the little ski area can be pretty fun. When I was there, the rails were brutally smooth and nice.

I think everyone else pretty much covered it though. Small park, good BC, no nightlife or entertainment.



There's tons of other outdoors type stuff around here though.

HUGE volcanic mountain... snow year round on upper slopes.  ski area is small but fun.. huge kickers built in the park, Go hike and ski all summer... I dig Shasta!

They are called Lemurians and are "interdimentional beings".  not aliens per say. 

The town is very cool, and there is a huge hippie presence, very radical in some circles.  It is a cool place though. 

I would suggest trying it out for a while.  While there isnt really snow year round, there is snow well into july in most cases. 

The ski park is fun, hit me up if you move out here and I'll show you the sweet spots.
