New Video Camera help!

I need a new video camera. I'm not looking to go expensive but is this video camera any good?

Don't buy  a hard drive camera. Get a mini DV, one of the Panasonic GS series of cameras will be fine.

i am also looking for a new camera and i thought a hard disk would be better than mini dv...why no hard disk and mini dv??? btw: i'm a real noob and have no idea about cameras

Howdy, well there was a thread on this earlier in the day in this forum...
but anyway, when the camera compresses the footage down onto the hard drives it makes it jitter when filming fast moving images... also hard drive cameras are not as user friendly when it comes to hooking it up to your computer.
your best bet is sticking with Mini DV tapes. and camera wise a panasonic gs320 or 500 is a good starter choice.
If you want the best quality in a cheap package then go for the canon hv20,
if money is no option go for the Canon XH-A1

ok well just like junior uk said there have been many threads on this already.

but i will try to help you out, even though junior has already pointed you towards mini dv, and also pointed out some of the best consumer cameras for thier price for skiing.

hard disk is tough to work with, and im pretty sure that as of now miniDV is superior to it

and to the creator, not trying to hop on the GS-500 bandwagon, but it is basically a great yet cheap 3CCD camera for the same price as the one above...i have one and so far i love it!

Hard drives arent as hard to work with, its a tapless format with immediate playback, and if you have a shitty shot you can delete it to make room for extra footage you may need to shoot, also saves you money on tapes, and is truely digital instead of going to a tape then to digi.

We are going to film a little bit this winter and want to make a movie for the season 07/08 is the panasonic nv-gs500eg-s  a good choice, heard the akku isn't that good??? how will be the quality, does someone has a example video???....what is better, 3x 0,8 Megapixel ccd (1/6") like the panasonic nv-gs500eg-s or a cam like the JVC GR-DF570E with 1.33 Megapixel CCD (1/4.5")??? thx

depends on what you plan to do with the movie..
if you want to put it onto dvd's then gs500 would be ok, not great but not bad.
if you want to put it onto the internet try going HD as when you compress the video to upload onto youtube or whatever then the quality stays much better...
I have the canon HV20 which has really good quality.

check the link up there^^^ that is a video example.
