Yo! So ive tried both the rampage and the pro. Now i ski 60% park and 40% big mountain. I love to ski fast. Does anyone know (and please dont rips on me) which would be a better choice, given the fact that they both fit my foot fine...cheers dudes
well, that depends almost exclusively on how stiff of a boot you like. i ride the rampages for everything, but i only weigh 160lbs, so with the flex blocks in, the boot is plenty stiff enough for me for skiing steeper, sketchier stuff, whereas with them out, the flex is nice for park. given the option, if you like a softer boot for riding park, get the cross. it has all the same features as the rampage, but with a better liner. the pro has a stiffer tongue, and again, a better liner, but it basically comes down to flex, because beyond that and the liner, there's not much difference between the models. you can reverse the toe buckle on the cross if you want, but i flipped mine on my rampages cause they always pop open in the reverse position.
eliminate the rampage. compare it cross and pro. the rampage and cross are the same boot, with a higher end liner in the cross. the footboards in the pro dont really make much difference, but the tounges do. (i had to customize both the foot boards and tounges to get them soft enough for ridding park the way i like. and even then, they are sooo stiff laterally, ive never bothered to change them. id spend the extra money from the pro, and spend it on a Cross ID with the thermic liner. much better investment than the extra 100 some dollars for a SLIGHTLY stiffer shell and tounge.
^^i ride the rampages and i ski about 50% park 50% all mountain and they werk great. only problem is they are a little cold and the front buckle comes up easy but there great.
^yes...I have the rampage with the krypton pro liners. I find this to work best for me. I ride Utah all winter and consider myself a bc jibber I guess. The only time its not enough boot is when im riding big skis 190s in less than desirable conditions. then I get skied a little bit. Other than that I love em for everything. The pro liner fits better than the furry one, and is a bit warmer too.
IL MORO. sry for caps. just like the name. but i'd wait for that next year. its a step up from the rampage and it has a new id liner i believe. so if you aren't skiing anywhere till next winter i'd maybe check those out
Even set up as stiff as it gets the pro is on the softer end of boots. If the temps are above 35 or so and you really drive your skis you will find the krypton can fold on you. In colder temps I dont have a problem I fucking love the boot. FWIW I set mine up with both plugs, stiff tounge and a 3 strap booster, if it is really cold I can actually pull the smaller plug out
nahh. gonna be a dope freestyle boot, but its designed as a higher end rampage. def not as an all mountain boot. (not that it cant, but its not the primary focus)
word. i skied on Il Moro. fucking hated it. to me, it felt like a narrower version of the spk, and softer.
just get the pro's, it's what i have now, and you can make them as soft as you want, or as stiff as you want. no joke, those boots have SO much adjustment.
yea. you can mix and match liners from almost any boot, as long as they are the right size, and width. as for cost, i believe the intuition liners are around 150-200 canadian retail. its somewhere in that range. your better off to just buy the boot with the liner you want.
i had the ID liner in my rampages and it just didnt feel comfortable for me at all. i came from a lange freeride 120, so i figured i'd like the firmer liner better, as it was what i was used to, but i skied the ID liner for maybe 5 days, hoping i'd get used to it, but the stock liner in the rampage was just so much more comfortable to me. its probably the coldest boot i've ever been in though. for whatever reason, my toes freeze in the boot, even on days that arent super cold. once i put on a booster strap from an old nordica boot, shinbang was a complete non-issue though.
