for a school project i need to interveiw someone who has had experience with a resort having and not having park passes and how well they work etc. anyone meet theses specs?
they work well. it keeps all the little kids who go off the sides of the lips for the rails. i have one at blackcomb and it is sweet. no gay gapers to get in your way.
the only problem is that (unless you are pro and the guys just let you in)if you are traveling to a mountain who has it it sucks becuz u have to sign a whole bunch of shit and a lot of the time pay. and some mountains have them where you just need to sign at the top once and your in. that one doesnt really work. you get just as many gapers with that method. it needs to be one where you actually have to go to guest services, sign a waiver and pay like $15 for it to actually work.
thats retarded that would just make everyone visiting the mountain not able to ski the park without paying even more after they payed for a lift ticket. It would be nice but thats a dick move for resorts to do were u have to pay more to jump off mounds of snow and slide on peices of metal
yeah thats the whole problem but its not bad if its your home mountain. it does keep the gapers out of the park so i guess thats a good thing. but it can be annoying if your going to a mountain just for a day. i would say all in all its a good thing though
not really, the only places that have them are mountains with multiple terrain parks. that way, you can still ride park if you are visiting for a weekend, it will just be full of gapers like every other park without a park pass. it makes perfect sense
It works pretty well for my mountain, but it is still very crowded because of the 50:1 boarder to freeskier ratio, but it keeps the racers, and little kids and old men out of the park
yea but still thats redic if i was visiting a resort i would absolutley not pay extra money so i can ride a park that doesnt have gappers in it, people really just need to accept the fact that everyone isnt good at skiing/snowboarding. I guess it would be cool if they were like identical parks but still sounds stingee as fuck to me. I do hate gappers tho trust me last year i got a snowboard straight into my back while i was sittin waiting to drop into a jump line from some asian bitch and had to sit out the rest of the day. I think like if the mountain had people who sit in the park kinda like life guards and bitch at the gappers for u so they prevent it or make rules or soemthing
yeah our hill just figured that out, remember the first year they were giving passes out to school groups for free so it didnt work out that well, but they got there shit together and making ppl pay to use the park keeps the kids that arent serious out. I say go for it.
strattons park pass didnt work at all last year. there were still the same amount of moms and dads and 5 year olds rolling over the jumps and getting in the way. i told the people watching the passes about it and they were these two old guys and they were like they have the pass and they have just amaount of a right to ski here as you do.
all in all it the park pass didnt change anything beceause all you had to do is watch a movie and sign a waiver and you were in. and no one monitored the park to see if people were acting stupidly so it didnt matter if you got in the way
this year my hill implemented park passes, it helps a bit, but honestly, im still getting cut off by gapers, not happy. The park pass system ties up the flow at the top of the hill because they put up a fence and some park patrol dudes actually check that u have a park pass. As mentioned before paying for the park pass would help so only the people who really are serious about hittin stuff go there, if ur not serious, go hit the dinky progression park.
awesome idea to do this, but i travel most places i go skiing, so i never have a park pass to get in. like dark territory at WP- i couldnt get in the the other day but i wanted to hit it so bad.
hopefuly resorts dont start doing this cus all the resorts near me are all stingy ass holes that wont do anything for the customer that wont give them money like they close right after they got 2 feet of snow because the asians arent coming or they wont setup a park but say they have a huge park setup on there website.....
i think every mountain should have a park ranger at the top of the park that judges people based on how they look and tells them they cant go in if he thinks they cant ride park
I work at a resort that has a park pass system - I would recommend that you call a resort that has a park pass system and ask to speak to someone in risk management or ski patrol or depending on the size of the resort, terrain parks...
Most resorts would be happy to provide you with the information that you need - from a resort perspective (and your teachers should give you points for talking to someone who is an "expert" in the field)
they need to have a thing where you can get "certified" to ride certain spots, that way douche bags can't possibly ruin good terain such as park, pow, or any other good stuff that goes away when inexperienced people hit it. This would probably never work but hey, in a perfect world......
my mtn has a park pass and you have to wait a lot less for each feature because in a park with no park pass all of the gapers ski down the landings of the jumps and you almost fall on them and they also get in front of you and cut you off wen youre hitting a jump
I think thats fucking lame. I dont care about gaypers all that much, they are just trying to have fun too. are you really so fucking tightassed that you freak out every time you see a gayper? Everyone us up there to have fun, and I would hope that you guys would be too, especially. FUCK PARK PASSES AND ROPES
so if some random group of 5 year olds skiing in a huge S down the landings of a jump and cut you off everytime you went to go hit a jump, you wouldnt mind? and if you were about to hit a rail and right at the last second some retarted asian lady is snowplowing 2 feet in front of the jump for the rail?
i kinda agreebut my mountain just got park passes this year and so far it is pretty nice...less hassle but gotta agree the little kids and all are just tryin to have fun too thats why you need different skill level parks...
