This is a project I?ve had in the back of my head for quite some time. Having seen other filmmakers experimenting with natural pigments, I knew there was room for another visually interesting experiment.
In April 2015, I gathered a few riders and experienced photographers to perform this conceptual clip, in which skiers release black ochres while taking off, leaving ephemeral trails behind them as they fly.
Directed in collaboration with Jules Guarneri, this video premiered on Nowness on March 21st 2016

15/16 was the best season we've had in 4 years here. Spent a lot of time skiing alone with the gopro and learning the different terrain that snowbird has to offer! Come join me for this funky ride
Fails, bails, and general ridiculousness. Sorry we took down the original but here is the revised version! Share it up!
On one of the best powder days of 2015, Jason Abraham, the beloved Tahoe skier and photographer was skiing at Squaw Valley capturing photos of a skilled crew in notorious steeps. After the session, he decided he?d take a free ski run down Main Chute in the Palisades. After dropping into the line he'd scored hundreds of times, Jason picked up speed and came out of the run faster than anticipated. He caught an edge and was flung on his back. The impact resulted in a spinal cord injury causing paralysis from the shoulders down and making him a #HighFivesAthlete -- part of the same population he'd helped photograph and promote for years.
QUADRILYZED is the story of Jason's new version of life as an athlete, as a photographer, and as a father.

Go behind-the-scenes with Monster Energy athlete Tom Wallisch as he takes a break from filming and travels to Les Arcs, France for the B&E Invitational.
At the Suzuki Nine Knights Perfect Hip in Watles, South Tyrol, Italy, the riders take on one of the biggest hips ever constructed in skiing and snowboarding history. More of a beast than a castle, it includes 5 poppy take-offs, two massive hip landings, and one huge kicker landing, all built for optimum airtime. In this GoPro Course preview, world-class riders like Sebbe De Buck (BEL), Bene Mayr (GER), Joffrey Pollet-Villard (FRA), Werni Stock (AUT), and Jules Bonnaire (FRA), demonstrate that when the ?take-offs take you to the moon?, the possibilities for sick tricks are endless. A week of riding this insane multifaceted features means huge tricks and bigger airs on Contest Day April 2nd,2016. Shot 100% on GoPro.
A lot has changed since we kicked off SuperUnknown back in 2003. Skiing has come so far- style and technicality has changed, developed, and progressed so far beyond what anyone could have imagined at the time. The landscape of competition, the internet, and video parts is barely recognizable compared to what it once was- but the one constant is that there is always a crop of talented amateurs around the globe poised for a breakout and they?re able to use SuperUnknown to take that next step!
