The Dirty South

by Fairly_Casual
May 2015 - 7.4K views

The unique landscapes that make up Southern Utah are typically dominated by dirt and rock, but this winter was not exactly a typical one in Utah. While the Wasatch Range struggled with low snow fall and warm temperatures a series of storms graced the high altitude red rock canyons near Brian Head and created some of the most unique skiing conditions on the planet. This March Will Howard, Loren Griswold and I were blessed with a once in a life time opportunity to ski in the dirty south, this is a recap of our journey.

Pyramid Gap Explosion

The very same day that Tanner Hall got redemption on Chad's, just a couple hundred yards away Dan Greene kept the tradition of coming up short and exploding on these gaps alive! Probably the most rowdy day in the gulch I've ever been apart of! Pretty epic to have both Chads and Pyramid being hit at the same time!

This January we were able to gather the family and take a trip to a tiny little sled town at the very end of the road; Cooke City, Montana. In our short three day visit we were fortunate to find an abundance of snow, some incredibly inclement weather, and minimal mechanical issues. Three days wasn't enough but we did get a couple rounds in on the mini golf we knew was there for the shralping! Heres a big ol YERRRRRRRRAAHHHH for Montucky! We shall be back!!!!. . . . AND OH YEAH, WE ALL SUCK AT SLEDDING. WRESTLING REFRIGERATOR AINT AS EASY AS IT SEEMS!
