A run down Hell's Half-Acre, an extremely demanding high-alpine run within Big Sky's Headwaters area. Reaching this line requires one of the most technical hikes we've done anywhere.
This run was recorded in February 2020. Thanks to recent snowfall and the lack of crowds up here, snow quality was outstanding.

For some time, I have been playing with the idea of producing a powder project.
Last season, together with photographer Michael Fasching, I worked on a project called #betweenthetrees. It was just a photoshooting.
The primarily positive feedback on this project motivated us to continue working on projects like that one. This is how we got the idea for Between the Trees 2.0.
The motto of my employer Blue Tomato, “Work hard, ride harder”, gave me the idea to combine these aspects, work and leisure, in Between the Trees 2.0.
Together with Nico Schmidt (a filmmaker from Schladming), and Michael Fasching (former photographer of Blue Tomato) I found the fitting creators for the project. So therefore, we decided to realise the project in season 18/19.
Lucky for us, the New Year started with massive snow falls. The perfect conditions for shooting Between the Trees 2.0.
After countless hours on the mountain and behind the computer, we were able to finalise the project.

A bubble of friends relieve their q-tine boredom by venturing to the side country during the shutdown in Colorado. Shortly upon the resort closures, the snow kept dumping. In the first few weeks, Loveland Pass became a circus when hundreds of people flocked to the easily accessible back country-feel zone from all over. This resulted in the governor closing the pass, so the crew eased away after some good days and dug into the side of a small mountain in summit county for a week, then made a few climbs up Keystone and Breck before uphill-access was closed for the year. There isn’t much else to do when you live in a resort town and everything is closed, but we kept busy with the help of some shovels, shuttle cars, skins/snowshoes and a little bit of determination.

A run down the Super Bowl at Mount Hood Meadows, in Oregon. This high-alpine zone is rarely open and takes 1,700 vertical feet of hiking to reach. The area is most often open in the spring, and we hit the resort April 2021 to check out the slope for ourselves.

Our ranker-in-chief Sam loses his footing as he attempts one of the most dangerous in-bounds entrances in all of North America.
The day is finally here! The first day on hill at Jack Frost Big Boulder in the Poconos here in PA. The temperatures have finally dipped down which allowed the snow guns to go to work! Jack Frost had a bunch of fun trails open including "One Park". The park had a bunch of features like boxes, rails, tubes, and even a huge spine to hit as a jump. Cory and I had a blast skiing this first weekend and it felt nice to test out my new skis and to wipe off the rust!

I didn’t hit rails, I didn’t spin, didn't hit big lines or drops... but I did come back during the season I was told I was not going to get to ski in. I had torn my acl/meniscus April 2018 and missed most of the next season. I drove back to Boston for the summer and fall to have surgery (by the same surgeon who does all of Boston's major sports teams)(((worth going back east for))) and completed the bulk of my PT at MGH and came back to CO and back to skiing during the big storm of March 2019. Luckily Colorado had a great snow season and I was able to keep it going well into summer thanks to Abasin and being in the best shape of my life from PT which brought on lots of hiking. This edit is mostly post-season BC, late abay days, choppy summer skiing and dog laps...Oh and some good times with the people who I had to struggle see shredding all season while working at the mountain but still encouraged me to work harder to get back sooner to shred with them, and that paid off. It was a hard fought victory when I first got back on skis after being told to hang them up for the season. Thanks to all that still made it an unforgettable season.
