GAME of go-shred I Steibis Snowpark I #4 I 2022

by S.Ki
Mar 2022 - 696 views

Im just the guy doing the planning and organisation of the snowpark in the background. I convice some of the younger shredders to spend a season as a shaper just as i did a few seasons ago and also contact the sponsors, plan and realize events with the help of the shapers and the resort and so on. Some call me the parkmanager but i would'nt go that far. I dont get paid for it and i do it just for the passion of freeskiing, the local snowsportscene and the culture.

This year we got the opportunity to finally realize an event we had planned for the 2018/19 season, which had to be cancelled because of the COVID outbreak. A so called "Game of go-shred" in which everyone can participate. The video above is the recap-video of the event and was filmed and edited by Marcus Westphal, @wertzzzu.

Here are the words from the go-shred-Team:

Finally – after 2 years of Corona-caused cancellation, we were finally able to check out Steibis Snowpark in southern Germany. Ever since the Snowpark was established by Tajo Seefried about 12 years ago, it was the training ground that produced some excellent rail riders like our go-shred homie Wolfi Natterer and Marco Hornauer. A short park with 7 rail features in line, a lift just with the same length, which allows you to have 15 runs an hour. Perfect for a stop of our GAME of go-shred Tour.

We started the Game of go-shred at 12 o’clock and opened up our Spezi Softdrink deposit to keep competitors and visitors hydrated. It just feels good to drink out of a glass bottle. Things got heated at the Skatehalle Innsbruck Snowskate Game and the Highest Ollie right away. After one hour our helpful shapers fired up the BBQ. Thanks to the local butcher Metzgerei Giray we had local sausages as well as vegan and vegetarian sausages for our hotdogs. BBQ and drinks as well as Meckatzer beer were free for everyone.
After three hours of fun and games it was time to wrap up the game, hand in the result sheets and start with the price giving. We had nice price packages from our sponsors Volcom, Salomon, Stance and Arcade for the first 3 of every category. The winner of the Snowboard Pro category went home with a brand new Salomon Dancehaul Snowboard. The winner of the Snowboard advanced category went home with some brand new Salomon Snowboard boots. The winners of ski the groups went home with high quality Salomon Goggles.
After the price giving the shapers switched the lift back on until the sun set behind the hills of Oberstaufen at half past 5 and many took the chance to make some extra laps.
The locals were stoked about the amount of people that showed up and the snowboarders and skiers were stoked about the park and to meet so many friends and homies after the long Corona hiatus.
One thing is sure: We’ll be back!
Thanks to Snowpark Steibis and the Steibis Ski resort for the great support. Thanks to Kili, the shapers and homies that helped out on location. And thanks to every single of the participants and everyone that showed up that day. We really appreciate your support.

Cat Agnew SuperUnknown XVIII Semi-Finalist

by Level1
Apr 2021 - 328 views

If there’s anything that we can say for certain after spending the past few days reviewing this year’s SuperUnknown entries, its that the talent pool has never been deeper- we're stoked to see more variation in style, influence, and inspiration than ever before.

PSA: unfortunately, due to timeframe complications from Covid-19, we won’t be able to have a Wild-card vote for the Semi-Finalists like we normally do. We’re bummed about this but it is what it is. We will be launching a “Best Trick” poll soon that includes shots from the entire field - keep an eye out for that!

The closest I'll get to a season edit is strapping my GoPro Hero2 to my chest and getting mediocre shots of above average pow laps at Jackson Hole. Pro tip: use a helmet mount. Pro tip 2: Don't use a potato as your GoPro. Pro tip 3: put the camera down and just ski.

After Hours at Palmer

The current Palmer chairlift was completed in 1996, and is built to withstand wind gusts of over 100 miles per hour (160 km/h) and 200 inches (510 cm) of snow. Its construction time was less than six months due to a limited building season imposed by the local weather conditions.[4]

Boots Over Brim - A Sweetgrass Production Featuring Amie Engerbretson

by AmieEngerbretson
Nov 2021 - 1.8K views

A few winters back my dad and I were showing off our dance moves at the Cowboy bar in Jackson, WY. Our footwork got fancy as they started throwing inverted dance moves. Within moments the bouncer promptly kicked them out saying “No boots over the brim!” A film concept was born that day. Boots Over Brim follows me, Amie, a professional skier and classically trained dancer, as I dip in and out of a dreamy western dance scene and ski lines in Wyoming, Nevada, and Alaska.

Breaking all the rules of a classic ski film, Boots Over Brim pairs two of my great loves with a soundtrack exclusively set to the electrifying country music of Paul Cauthen.

Skiing is an art. Full of connection, grace, touch and style. To me, skiing is a dance.

The Mountain in My Mind - A Ski Film about Mental Health

by MountainInMyMind
Dec 2022 - 1.6K views

Presented by LINE Skis and FlyLow Gear, the Mountain in My Mind has one goal: destigmatize talking about mental health and suicide in the ski industry. The film is a ski and snowboard film about mental health. Directed by John Padilla, who lost his 15-year old brother to suicide, this breakthrough film is the first of its kind to interview skiers across the “Suicide Belt” in the Rocky Mountain Region of the United States.

After nine live premieres in towns across the Rocky Mountains, the film releases online for FREE on YouTube and Newschoolers.com https://youtu.be/of6WgkCuhZ4 (@MountainInMyMind).

Topics include: Suicide, Depression, Anxiety, Bipolar Disorder, Sexual Assault, Substance Abuse, Domestic Abuse, Eating Disorders, Body Dysmorphia, etc.

The film features nearly 50% men and 50% women and has all types of skiing, including: urban/street skiing, ski mountaineering, sled/snowmobile-assisted skiing, terrain park skiing, snowboarding, pillow skiing, powder skiing, resort/in-bounds skiing, and more!

We traveled to British Columbia, California, Washington, Colorado, Montana, Idaho, Utah, Wyoming, Oregon and Nevada and interviewed selected folks on their experience with mental illness and then enjoyed and filmed our shared passion for skiing.

The film started as an Newschoolers.com thread and after one year, 36,000 miles of traveling, 10 states and provinces, 9 live-premieres across the Western US, news appearances, podcasts, and 14TB of footage; the film is now online for free!

Not Serious

by J_skis
Oct 2021 - 1.5K views

The story of four friends ditching their standard 9-5 work from home life for an epic day on the slopes. Balancing icy turns, ski blade slashes, backflip flops, and ketchup on toast while still managing to appear 'online'. The only thing they take more seriously than their quarterly sales reports is a day on the mountain.
