Sänkyøu | An Arctic Adventure

by BlackcountryBill
Mar 2024 - 898 views

This is the epic journey of 3 professional freestyle skiers who embark on a wild new adventure in the arctic circle. Sarah, Giulia and Mathilde are athletes on the Swiss Freeski team who compete on the world's highest stages in slopestyle and big air. These three long-time friends and colleagues have brought home countless medals from the Olympics, X Games and World Cups. Their experiences as skiers lie overwhelmingly within the terrain park, where they have made their name and established their reputation as the world’s very best.

In this short film, these three athletes explore a new facet of skiing in the uncharted territories of Svalbard, Norway, far from the metal bars they are used to grinding on. Twin tip skis were replaced with lighter off-piste touring skis. New touring boots and tech bindings completed the gear set. Backpacks were filled with avalanche gear, crampons and ropes as the girls ascended, and skied down couloirs that have potentially never been skied before - by anyone.

We document the joy and self-doubt, the growth and uncertainty, the frustration and ultimate relief as these exceptional athletes push themselves to conquer new aspects of their day job—skiing. We bring to light the universal truth that everybody has to start somewhere, even the most revered professional skiers.

This documentary delves into the lives of Sarah, Giulia and Mathilde to showcase more than just individual triumphs. It's a celebration of the deep bonds between competitors and the tight-knit community that thrives within the world of skiing. As the girls face and conquer new hurdles, their camaraderie and support for one another become a powerful testament to the unbreakable spirit of the skiing community.

Prepare to be inspired as we delve into their hearts and minds, uncovering their unique personalities, the laughter they share, and the humanity that unites them. Through their stories and the stunning backdrop of ski touring in Svalbard, our documentary invites you to connect with some of the finest skiers in the world on a deeply personal level.

B-Roll on Hood

by LostGirlsTribe
Feb 2016 - 365 views

It was a wet, hot summer on Hood 2015...we drove out from Summit to gypsy camp on the Air Strip. It was Sierra's first time to Hood, and sadly she sprained her ankle and couldn't ski, but we sacrificed some old skis and roasted weenies. All around, great success, and great times with the homies.

The Future is Female

by CoalitionSnow
Mar 2017 - 4.2K views

Supporting the next generation of female skiers and riders. Coalition Snow sets out to change the ski and snowboard industry again with the introduction of Coalition YOUth.

From our first turns we were passionate about skiing and riding. Whether it was earning a hot chocolate after our first blue square or chasing our friends till the lifts stopped turning we knew the mountains would always have a special place in our minds and our hearts -- but somewhere along the line the sport starts to feel like it's about keeping up with the boys. It stops being about challenging oneself and starts to be a competition.

According to the Women's Sport Foundation, girls begin dropping out of sports at twice the rate of boys starting at the age of fourteen. What if instead of comparing themselves to the boys, girls were encouraged to chase their own goals and values? Coalition Snow is shifting the narrative and building a community that pushes girls to achieve their own dreams and goals both on the mountain and in their lives.

Coalition Snow is building more than equipment, we're building the next generation of women who share a passion for adventure and a love of the mountains. We're building a community of women who inspire each other to refuse to accept the status quo, push their limits, and create positive change in the world.

Like our adult line of skis and boards, Coalition YOUth gear is designed specifically for young rippers and built with the same high quality materials. This isn't just about planks of wood. It's about showing our girls that they can be anything they want to be. We're sending a message to young women that it's not about keeping up or going bigger, it's about finding joy in every turn, creating your own rules, and claiming skiing and snowboarding as your own sport.

You can help support the next generation of mountain women through the Coalition Snow Kickstarter Campaign, which will help fund production of Coalition YOUth and build the foundation for a community that promotes inclusivity and spreads confidence to future generations of skiers. You also can get in on some awesome perks like naming their YOUth ski or snowboard line after your favorite young ripper and our limited edition The Future Is Female tee and tote.

Coalition Snow building a movement and we're inviting you to join them. More details on the campaign and the YOUth line of skis and snowboards can be found at http://bit.ly/cskick. Check it out and contribute today!

Drew Hooker SuperUnknown XVIII Semi-Finalist

Mar 2021 - 77 views

If there’s anything that we can say for certain after spending the past few days reviewing this year’s SuperUnknown entries, its that the talent pool has never been deeper- we're stoked to see more variation in style, influence, and inspiration than ever before.

PSA: unfortunately, due to timeframe complications from Covid-19, we won’t be able to have a Wild-card vote for the Semi-Finalists like we normally do. We’re bummed about this but it is what it is. We will be launching a “Best Trick” poll soon that includes shots from the entire field - keep an eye out for that!

New Mexico Ditch Skating

by mountaindewgirl
Apr 2021 - 58 views

Went down to New Mexico for the Balloon Fiesta and took a rip down the arroyos on my Evolve electric mountainboard.
The bindingless eskate on that terrain had a very "summer snowskating" feel.

My friend Ashlie, who filmed it, is a muay thai instructor.
She just ran around getting the cell footie for like 10 miles a day for two days in the beating sun!
Now that's impressive!
