Go behind the scenes with Sherpas Cinema as they travel to Bella Coola, the Shangri-La of ski terrain, which has been largely left untouched for the last decade. Sherpas Cinema dropped in to Bella Coola last year to film "Into The Mind" with some heavy hitters including Kye Petersen, Callum Pettit, and JP Auclair. In this episode, brought to you by POWDER TV and Sherpas Cinema, the athletes and directors share their thoughts on the power of the mountains, as well as the challenges and rewards they experienced while filming in Bella Coola.
"Filmed a few days at Breckenridge and Keystone in December. Perfect weather and an awesome crew made for some really sick days."
"With the Sochi Winter Olympics rapidly approaching, freeskiers around the world have been working hard for a shot at competing in the Olympic Games, which will be the first to showcase both skiing halfpipe and slopestyle. Despite these freeskiing events making their debut, the efforts of these athletes have often gone unnoticed."

RAW is web based series new to Nimbus for 2014. We will release raw footage every other week all season long as we work toward our final two year project; "After The Sky Falls". We hope that the RAW series will allow viewers to follow us more closely, and keep tabs on our travels and skiing. This first RAW is a shot of Chris Benchetler doing a helicopter tail snag in Japan.

Between 1996 and 2004 Wendy Fisher was the most dominant female Big Mountain Freeskier in the world - then she had kids. Nearly a decade later, we revisit Wendy to see if she's still got 'it'.

Sometimes the wait pays off. Challenging snow and weather conditions greeted Tim Durtschi and Sage Cattabriga-Alosa when they arrived in Les Arcs this January. The legendary Red Bull Linecatcher was unfortunately cancelled due to lack of snow on the venue and troublesome weather forecasts. Undeterred they went shredding together in white-out and dust on crust, making the most of their time in France. On the third day the sun luckily popped out for a few hours! They discovered pockets of fresh deep powder and sessioned epic jumps until the end of the day.

To film the Whistler segment of "Into The Mind," the Sherpas posted an open call to skiers of all abilities and ages on Facebook. Come one, come all to document the breadth of skiing at Whistler. The result was a shoot documenting everything from the grandpas and five-year-olds carving courdoroy to Julian Carr hucking a front flip off the 185-foot Air Jordan.
The burden of success weighs heavily indeed. After hundreds of thousands of views on Likebomb Skiing #1, the crew was wracked with doubts as to how they would top their initial success. Finally, they decided to go back to Engelberg, Switzerland to search for the climactic gold dust of crappy crust that first brought them fame and fortune. Unfortunately, what they get is something very different.
The Pleasure Dome What is pleasure? What makes you happy? Early season in Chamonix was, well, as good as it can get for a "bad ski season." Check out skiing around the Aiguille du Midi with superstar Seth Morrison and Chamonix local, Tof Henry. There is no such thing as a bad season. Powder to the People.
The Compass series captures a visually stunning full spectrum experience from ski trips to three beautiful countries: Russia, Italy, and Japan. The contrasting culture, mountain shape, terrain, snow quality, food, language, music, pace of life and architecture all play into what it feels like to ski and travel abroad. For Nimbus, the series is a further departure from a mass appeal approach to ski movie making. This short movie is dedicated to our friend Masami Sasaki 1953-2013.
Nicky Keefer has his own vision of freeskiing. In search of different features to express his skiing on, he travelled to Austria for a week of Urbans, Park and Pow shredding in Tyrol.
For Roz Groenewoud, the feeling of soaring high above a halfpipe is almost indescribable. Her everywhere is the moment she finds both peace and strength at the top.
For some, embracing the mountains is not just part of life? It's a way of life. The search for snow shapes not only how they approach these peaks, but also how they approach the world. And whether athletes spend their days dropping first descents in Alaska, lapping the local mountain, or training for the Olympics, they're part of a community built around a shared passion. The bonds that form from this community transcend continents and cultures, transforming strangers into friends. After all, a smile on a powder day needs no translation.
First things first, filmmaker Graeme Meiklejohn has a divine mustache. It's somewhere between 80's porn auteur and Orlando Bloom in Pirates of the Caribbean: a little rakish, a little nasty, kind of cuddly, and all business. Meiklejohn brings us along as he and his friends crisscross the Sea-to-Sky Corridor, stopping off at Whistler and Okanagan, for alternate rounds of drinkin' and skiin'. He has a playful, DIY style that evokes the best of both documentary and music video with a dash of high school confessional and it works wonderfully here. There is nothing so enjoyable as the beauty and gusto of youth portrayed beautifully and with dollops of youthful gusto.
