Pekka Hyysalo - Fight Back - Episode 1

by peketi
Nov 2012 - 16.4K views

I'm Pekka. A 21 years old guy. Injured pretty damn seriously on 28.4.2010. That is a date I remember well, even though I can't remember anything that happened that day. I have heard some stories from my friends about how it happened: I had yelled from the lift "I'll go one more time, this is the last one", and the last one it was. I did it because the switch double cork 10's I had done were a bit unstable. Switch doubles were an easy trick for me, but that day was windy and a really strong blast of wind grasped me and I landed way too far, over-rotating my trick. In the crash, I broke my helmet (the Sweetest black thing, that saved my life), I gained a serious / extremely serious brain injury and sank into a coma for 17 days. Next thing I know, was laying in the hospital, next summer. The rehabilitating process has been a rough one to me, but I have still been able to rehabilitate myself amazingly fast! The biggest weaknesses the injury brought along are my memory problems, which have fallen away majorly, and balance problems, which have also fallen away pretty much too. The predictions I got from doctors were pretty dark: Will be able to walk in 2 years, might not be able to ski ever again and I don't know the whole list. But what I do know: walked after about 6 MONTHS after the crash and skied for the first time after 11 months. So that's the thing in a nutshell, follow my rehabilitation in the blog!

EGO-TRIP by Remco Kayser

Nov 2018 - 16.4K views

After surprisingly being invited for Superunknown XV in Winter Park Colorado, I didn't want to fly to the USA for just a week, so I talked with fellow finalists Simon Bartik and Jessy Desjardins and we organised what became the best road-trip of my life.
I joined Simon, Jessy, Carlo Mion, Philippe Clairoux, Philippe Gaucher and Kevin Desjardins in Portland where we later drove to California and Colorado trough some epic scenery.
Hope you will enjoy, ONE LOVE !
What to expect:
- Illegal stuff such as 3 different angles for a cork 9
- Beautiful landscapes from our road trip
- Nice still pictures
- Quality shots from Mammoth filmed by the man Carlo Mion
- Unseen shots from Winter Park during Superunknown.
- Pretty bad crashes
- Good music
- A selfie in front of the Tesla Gigafactory in Reno
- A broken down Tesla in the middle of some Oregon forest and in the middle of the night
- A rail run from Carlo who’s a good filmer AND and great skier

Huge thanks to Wells Lamont, my parents, my friends, uni, Geneva and everyone out there !!!!

Connor Clayton | Comeback Season

by ConnorClayton
Aug 2017 - 16.3K views

I've had kind of a rough past two years ski wise. With blowing my right knee out once in 2015, and then re-tearing the same knee the following year in 2016, it was questionable whether or not skiing was still worth it. After months on months of rehab, I got the okay to get back on my skis this past January, and while I was scared shitless of hurting my knee again everyday I was skiing, I managed to have one of the best seasons of my life. I figured I'd call this my 'comeback season' as I never thought I would really come back into skiing right where I left off. I can't thank my family and friends enough for the constant and continued support that helped me get over my injuries, and I cannot wait to get back on my planks this season for another great winter with many more to come.
