The film is about the mountain guide Stefan Palm and his son Max one of the world’s best free ride skiers. For three days we follow father and son in their search for the perfect ride under the midnight sun. From the base camp on the Gouda Glacier, between Abisko and Kebnekaise, they are looking for powder snow on Kåtotjåkka 1991 m MSL.
”Hemma i Bergen” captures their relationship and how they view skiing and a life in the mountains. Max, who is at the beginning of his skiing career, the new world champion in the Freeride Junior World Championship, and Stefan with a lifetime of experience of skiing from all corners of the world, get some rare days together. Father and son.

5 days off at the beginning of March.
Headed from Colorado to Utah to ski at Alta and link with @TotallyTrevor then randomly got lucky enough to share a @summitbrunch with @TWallisch and the @Line_Skis crew at the top of highboy.
Sent north the next morning for the IFSA Freeride World Qualifier event at Grand Targhee. I was able to put down a textbook Tomohawk in my run and got cut from finals which gave Will Synnot and I a day to explore some side country and hit cliffs way smaller than @juliancarr and Owen Leeper would. Overall stellar trip with all the homies

Hey this is a buddy's video posted with his permission. If you want to contact him or ask questions, go comment on the video on YouTube.
Here's my comment on the issue/video:
"I feel the heart in this.
My introduction to mountains and wilderness was in Idaho. I was born there and it's sad to see rapid and expansive development gaining momentum there (I'm in Utah now).
It not only destroys our way of life, it destroys life. Wildlife that depends on this land to survive and have a chance at life. Which is their right.
Lodges and rollercoasters, more lifts and more expansion is not our right. I hope the human race will soon collectively realize this.
Let's work with what we have and refine that. Refine the resorts that already exist. Remodel and rebuild on land that's already been developed.
I'm joining this fight Dan!"

The Tamarack Resort expansion plans are out of control and threaten to take over more than 3,300 acres of pristine public lands in West Central Idaho. Tamarack Ski Resort is owned by private equity and real estate firms from Florida and Georgia. Their plans include a total take over of the public lands complete with a 10,000 sqft building on top of the Mountain, a mountain roller coaster, 5 new lifts, and more. These are developers from out of state with big plans to make their ROI through real estate sales. These out of state Tamarack owners do not share the same values of Idaho and threaten to negatively affect Valley County in many ways such as but not limited to, pricing locals out of their homes, excessive strain on local infrastructure, erosion of community identity, and loss of natural beauty by building lifts, roller coasters, and big buildings.

I am against Tamarack resort's expansion plans and it is time for the voices of the opponents to be heard. Tamarack will not slip under the radar with their ambitions to destroy public lands. I have co-founded a non-profit called Leave Our Lands Alone Alliance and we are dedicated to stopping the take over of these public lands. Stop Tamarack's expansion.
If the Forest Service *does* grant Tamarack a permit, they (or whoever buys it next) would be able to develop with no (well, few) questions asked any time in the next 40 years. Public lands should not be used as development/real estate collateral. So, keeping that permit from being granted is important to protecting the area from present and future development threats.

I decided to put together clips from some of my favorite days this season. There are definitely still some urban and backcountry spots lined up for next year and I already can't wait.
Filmed entirely in Upstate New York (Mountains: West Mountain, Gore Mountain, and Whiteface)

Just a reminder to stay safe guys!
"I don’t want to sound overdramatic but without the homies to help me
out of this mess, I may not have made it.
We always have avalanche danger on our minds when we approach the
backcountry that we tend to forget the many other ways we can find
ourselves in a dangerous situation. I miscalculated this step down, my
skis hit the tree and I was flipped backwards and upside down into the
deep snow. At first I thought I could bust out a breathing pathway with
my arms. I failed in this attempt and only accomplished to burn energy
and precious oxygen. I thought next, “stay calm”. I have no idea who was
near me, if anyone as the boys were previously hitting a jump. So as my
oxygen started getting low I said fuck the calm and thought I could try
to punch through once again. This only worked to knock snow down my
throat and more snow on top of me. I had snow in my lungs, making me
cough and unable to breathe at all. Luckily at this point the crew had
made it to me and dug me out of this hectic situation in time.
I want to post this video to serve as a reminder to use the right
protocol in all situations in the backcountry. Many of us over indulge
in our phones hoping to capture the next funny viral clip and forget our
friends can be in peril danger. I’m so happy to see how quickly Paddy
Graham put his phone down and ran to my rescue with Tom Ritsch and Syo
Van Vliet without these guys quick actions I may have been an iceman and
I’m so happy to be with the crew I’m with out there..
We are our brothers keepers, we love each other so we need to protect
each other when we are out doing the thing we love to do. Backcountry is
adherently dangerous. Getting to buried friends is not easy. So I want
to reiterate to everyone to always be ready for the unforeseen and take
the proper precautions while out in the powder."
Filmed by Fabi Hyden, Julien Pintarelli, Paddy Graham.
Fun little Mandatory air out of a chute and then just mashing some surfy pow!

Some GoPro backflip clips from Loveland pass yesterday (sorry no other angles as the other camera was being used for photos). Once we get another round of snow I'll build another gap (if anyone is down!)
In November 2021 I was diagnosed with epilepsy after a recurrence of seizures. After experiencing a rare allergic reaction to my first round of medication I was considered unfit to travel and compete on the Freeride World Tour 2021.However, Just because my neurologist and primary provider have to closely monitor me while we try to find the proper balance of anti seizure medication doesn't mean I still cant go out and ski around my current residence of Bozeman, MT. Thus, this season I am doing a webisode series called Balance, my pursuit to find a suitable balance of anti seizure medication while attempting to ski as much as I can. Thanks for watching.

Well the season is over here in PA. In the last week, in three consecutive days we had a cloudy/super slush day, a rainy/ slush day, and a very windy/icy day. But here on the East Coast that is the norm, so there is no excuse but to go ski! Thank you for tuning into a another season of Laps With Dad, see you next winter!!
