Season Edit 19-20

by tuckerfreeski
Sep 2020 - 1.4K views

Prior to everything shutting down, last season was really looking up. A competition in Canada to start it off followed by backcountry pillow lines and a deepening snowpack made for a fantastic start. Then a trip down to Taos, NM for another comp and soon after I was found on the couch waiting for the call to see whether or not the competition season would be cancelled. With my finger on the button to purchase a flight to Washington for the next event, I got word of the cancellation. So after having two seasons in a row end short for me (injuries and COVID) I couldn't be more excited for this winter. With snow forecasted for much of the West this week, it seems like the perfect time to get people excited for winter! Big plans in the works for a video series this upcoming season, so let it snow!

Fresh off our trip from Mount Hood, the boiz headed back to home turf for Carinthia's annual Peace Pipe jam. With more than average snowfall this season they had a ton of snow leftover and plenty of rails to jump around on. Check out the action and keep those eyes peeled for more content coming your way!

Awon - Low Key ft. Linkrust & Nique [Official Music Video] Dir. by @JeremyPancras

by panpan
Apr 2020 - 1.4K views

Ever since I started practicing Xtreme sports I was attracted by the underground and rebel side of Hip Hop music. This gender was indeniably part of a sport that followed its footsteps as a community.

After years of creating videos with songs from various artists around the globe I finally reached out to one of my favorite artist Awon who agreed to create a song for my next movie #KEEPITREALtheproject. I sent him a full page of ideas on what I wanted to say, what the beat should sound like, how we could handle the shooting, add Nique to the casting, etc…

Couple months later Linkrust came out with a beat that fitted perfectly what I was seeking : a track that would mix up the lyricism of old school Hip Hop and the party vibe of new-school Trap. Something that would correlate with old school ski bums and new-school « Bunch style » skiers.

Wear A Helmet - Daniel Thomson & Mikey Hall's Story

by Newschoolers
Nov 2018 - 1.4K views

On 4 April 2018 I had the best worst day ever.

Daniel Thomson and I were having one of the best pow days of our lives in the Lake Louise backcountry when the day suddenly took a turn for the worse. My ski snagged a hidden rock which threw me into the snow - headfirst, directly onto another hidden rock. I knew immediately that I had a serious injury and that I wouldn't be able to get off the mountain on my own. My helmet was destroyed and I broke my back in several places, but I was extremely fortunate to escape without any serious head or spinal cord injuries.

I have no doubt my Pret helmet saved my life that day. Daniel and I wanted to turn this negative experience into a positive message about the importance of stacking the odds in your favour.

All credit to Daniel for putting this together and telling this story.

I also owe a huge debt of gratitude to so many people who were involved in my rescue and who took care of me in the aftermath:
- Daniel
- Dave Petch & Casey Robinson and the rest of Lake Louise Ski Patrol
- Jasper Johnson
- Parks Canada Visitor Safety
- All the EMS staff and the staff and the Mineral Springs and Calgary Foothills hospitals
- Jessica Hall
- Dave Williams
- All the friends who were there to sort logistics and provide much needed moral support (and delicious meals)
- Rebecca Mottram at Altitude Physio & Kevin Worobey at Banff Physio

Moving Mountain - It was all a dream

by GustavHaglund
Mar 2017 - 1.4K views

This video is our contribution to a film competition with a charitable purposes, organized by the Moving Mountain. The money Moving Mountain earned during this event was given to Protect out Winters and St Anton Mountain Rescue. During 2,5 days you had to film and edit a ski movie, which was done on March 9 to 11. The first day offered really bad weather with massive amounts of rain. During day Two the sun came out but due to heavy snowfall at high altitudes and other hazards large parts of the system here in St Anton was closed. This contributed to the fact that large parts of the filming was done on day 2. Day 3 invited sun and heat, but the whole day was spent to edit and submit the film.

After really bad circumstances, camera trouble and computer trouble we was done and handed in the film. It did not go as planned, but we gave it our best.

The storyline of our film is that Gustav Haglund dreams that he founds a magic bandana (Moving Mountain bandana) that makes him a good skier.
