Winter Storm Izzy came through and dumped an abundance of snow for parts of Pennsylvania! Luckily, I was able to get many days of skiing in before the storm ...

I wasn't able to do much filming this year due to breaking my collar bone, but I did get to shoot on some old mine shafts around Silverton, CO and was part of a park shoot at my home mountain Purgatory.
Long-time JANKY snowboarder John Sheffler dragged Hazen Woolson all around Hokkaido to see how much ramen a gaijin can physically eat - and the answer is a lot. Throughout their battles with noodle bowls the pair explore the volcanic peaks, powder-filled ski areas and hidden roadside features of Japan's snowy north island in "Bean," their trusty Nissan Dayz.

This is an edit showcasing 5 weeks of deep pow, carnage and some damn good times. All the skiing done is around the Niseko Backcountry, in Hokkaido, Japan.
Looking for new terrain and some late season snow, a few of us at Shaggy's set out to backcountry ski deep in Ontario's Algoma region on the northeast shore of Lake Superior. The snowpack was melting, but holding well for the weather. A few large bluffs may have sent us bootpacking, but we finally found some skiing on a sunny spring day.

Presented by LINE Skis and FlyLow Gear, the Mountain in My Mind has one goal: destigmatize talking about mental health and suicide in the ski industry. The film is a ski and snowboard film about mental health. Directed by John Padilla, who lost his 15-year old brother to suicide, this breakthrough film is the first of its kind to interview skiers across the “Suicide Belt” in the Rocky Mountain Region of the United States.
After nine live premieres in towns across the Rocky Mountains, the film releases online for FREE on YouTube and Newschoolers.com https://youtu.be/of6WgkCuhZ4 (@MountainInMyMind).
Topics include: Suicide, Depression, Anxiety, Bipolar Disorder, Sexual Assault, Substance Abuse, Domestic Abuse, Eating Disorders, Body Dysmorphia, etc.
The film features nearly 50% men and 50% women and has all types of skiing, including: urban/street skiing, ski mountaineering, sled/snowmobile-assisted skiing, terrain park skiing, snowboarding, pillow skiing, powder skiing, resort/in-bounds skiing, and more!
We traveled to British Columbia, California, Washington, Colorado, Montana, Idaho, Utah, Wyoming, Oregon and Nevada and interviewed selected folks on their experience with mental illness and then enjoyed and filmed our shared passion for skiing.
The film started as an Newschoolers.com thread and after one year, 36,000 miles of traveling, 10 states and provinces, 9 live-premieres across the Western US, news appearances, podcasts, and 14TB of footage; the film is now online for free!

John Spriggs has heard it a million times: “You’re a pro skier, must be nice.” What people don’t understand is the work, risk, pain, and reward that comes with dedicating one’s life to backcountry skiing. Come on a journey with Spriggs, McRae Williams, Taylor Seaton, Ben Moxham, Wiley Miller and more as they make their way through winter in the Rockies and show not only breathtaking action, but the other, darker sides of being a professional skier.

Over the past year I have made the switch out of my 13 year racing career and spent my first season dedicated to freesking. I entered a few competitions, came out with some encouraging results, and had a rad season along the way. So heres some clips I've gathered from the past few seasons to commemorate freedom!

THE CHAIRLIFT TRICK & TESTING THE 17/18 SOUL7
We got our hands on the brand new Rossignol Soul 7 hd. Thet have completely redesigned it for this season.
The honeycomb goes longer down, reducing the weight of the ski, and then it has been reenforced, make it more stiff. It should perform better on piste, than the previous, but I like the playfulness of the old one more. No dought, it is a fantastic ski, but for my kind of skiing I like the old one more.
I would still like to try it out with a freestyle binding, because til will make et more flexible.
The chairlift trick, is when you need to use your hands, and want to get you poles out of the way, without dropping them. Stick them under you leg, so you will be sitting on them, and wolla, you are free to use your hands.
Very important is, that you will have to remove them before lifting up the bar, or the will be in the way of the footrest.
That is it for or 4 day season start in Sölden, Austria.

My brother and I went to Iran last year, we found an incredible country with amazing people and perfect snow conditions. I Hope you're gonna like the video
Gem Lake Couloir off of Trapper Peak in the southern Bitterroots. Skiing is not in slow motion. I just went really slow to avoid death. Type 2 kind of fun as they say in the streets.
This time last year I was neck deep in soy sauce and Japanese powder with Aaron Santos, Jordan Ling, Brad Anderson and Dylan Vachon. I manage to get my hands on all the B-roll footage and tossed together a edit commemorating the travels we had.
Enjoy!
