Level 1′s 14th annual feature-length flick, “Partly Cloudy” Everything is baked. The snow has turned to mush and that burn is starting to peel. Fortunately, for those seeking cover from the glare there is a reset on the way. Hot on the heels of Level 1’s award-winning film Sunny comes a slightly different forecast. No major disturbances or low-pressure fronts, just a healthy mix of skiing, music, and personality with a low ultraviolet index. Partly Cloudy.

Phil Casabon and go-to filmmaker friend Brady Perron use a fresh recipe in their latest piece Nuance. Using their strong chemistry, the duo flips a new page, hitting home for skiers and beyond. Phil continues taking chances to grow and push his craft, a task easier said than done. Motivated by a ski background and Quebecois heritage, Perron shoots to reflect a lesser-known side of Casabon. Nuance keeps a high-performance ski standard but manifests Phil’s spiritual connection and obsession with his savoir-faire. Casabon’s goofy youthfulness remains strong while an increasingly intense focus looms. Nuance digs into a hands-on and harsh journey, one scattered with wintry vibes, Phil’s je ne sais quois and a fistful of special moments. A contrasting collection of audio and imagery represent the healing, fun, and dismay necessary for Casabon to fulfill his goals. Perron’s lens and post-production glue together a souvenir of months shooting rather than a document.

Had a crazy trip this year. Ton's of snow and epic days. Couldn't of asked for a better season.
Last year was crazy. This YEAR WAS INSANE! We built a ton of jumps, drank a shit ton of Bud Light Lime and got profoundly naked.
Thank you to all who came out!
TURN VOLUME TO MAXIMUM FOR FULL EFFECT!

Nuance is a skiing video designed to explore and showcase the small, subtle aspects that exist in the sport of skiing. After facing a difficult period due to a badly broken leg a few winters ago, Peak Performance athlete Garrett Capel decided to look deeper into skiing and focus on the elements that truly make him passionate about being a skier.
Separated into two acts, nuance highlights these elements.
In Act 1, the film showcases the power of friendship in skiing—the feeling of having all your friends in one place, generating a collective energy; the satisfaction of a high-five; the funniest things anyone’s ever said; and the sunset at the end of the day, when everyone’s spirits are high, and you can’t stop smiling. These are the moments that matter and should never be forgotten.
In Act 2, the focus shifts to the design elements of our environment: the texture of the snow after a wind event, the way the sun reflects off the snow as you carve through it, the vast scale of the mountains you play in, and all the other details we often overlook.
Starring Leif Wilson, Adam Kuch, Mark Hendrickson and Garrett Capel. Cinematography by Lucas Reid

Shop for the new line of Wells Lamont snow gloves and mitts exclusively at WellsLamont.level1.ski
Wells Lamont came out swinging this past year by putting together one of the heaviest and most well rounded teams of any accessory brand in snow sports, with Tanner Rainville, Will Berman, Keegan Kilbride, Duncan Adams, Sean Jordan, and rookie Remco Kayser. "I was fortunate enough to be able to put a team together of people that see skiing the same way I do,” added Team Manager Will Berman. "Not only are we all friends but we share the same passion and perspective on skiing and style- sharing that common outlook is what really brings this team together."
The 111-year-old brand has been producing the toughest work gloves in the business, and the transition into a winter sports line was natural- they’ve taken a century of design, manufacturing, technology and materials knowledge and translated it into the best and most affordable ski and snow gloves and mitts you’ll find anywhere.

A skiing video created by Garrett Capel. Filmed in Revelstoke, Fernie, Whistler, Chatter Creek and the mountains of interior BC.
New to the LINE Skis team last season, Garrett was incredibly quick to impress our internal crew, along with fellow team members, with his effortless pillow popping style and huge bag of tricks. From charging down the steepest faces to bouncing from pillow to pillow and boosting hand drag 3's and cork 7's off of huge cliffs, Garrett had one heck of a 2021 season, even with some injury setbacks, but ya wouldn't even be able to tell that there were setbacks from watching this video, now would ya?

After a season full of travel restrictions, not optimal snow, and a series of injuries, the last couple weeks of the season went off in Colorado. Riding at my home hill Arapahoe Basin and chased around by Ian Zinner, we put a couple days worth of footage together capturing the height of spring skiing. Can't wait to do it all again!
Words by Arapahoe Basin "Spring skiing at it's finest, with Ray McDermott last season."
