In the winter of 2017, the magnitude of winter's force was on full display. Telephone poll-snapping storms pounded the Wyoming landscape. Regions to the west, recently left arid and forgotten, were gifted with unprecedented accumulation. Blizzards in Europe buried towns in an instant before disappearing just as fast, leaving the lucky few who were there to wonder if it even happened. A Bolivian expedition found grace above 18,000 feet before the elements went rogue and the humans reluctantly heeded warnings from above.

Greatest hits from my second season of POV JOURNAL entries! Despite injuries and exams I still managed to get out and smash pillows all winter while exploring Rogers Pass and Revelstoke Backcountry.
I've never made a season edit before, but because this year was so sick, I figured why the heck not. So, after dozens of minutes of editing, here is what my GoPro and some cell phones captured this winter.
YLESKI 2015 is the culmination of Wiley Miller?s 2015 winter season. Shot almost exclusively in the Columbia Mountains of interior British Columbia. The winter of 2015 was adverse in many areas of North America. Finding good conditions remained challenging. Patience, and persistence was key in finding safe, suitable snowpack. This is the second installment to the YLESKI series, highlighting the best of Wiley Miller and his approach to snow.
?I set out this winter to spend my time exploring new mountains, scouting lines, and finding natural airs in the terrain to work with. This season ski touring, route finding, and line selection were set in priority above building jumps and locating step-downs. It was an alternative I decided to take when the snow started to fly in November of 2014. I set out to do more skiing and less building, setting up-tracks versus cutting blocks for jumps. The sport becomes so dynamic when you?re working with larger terrain. It?s challenging, I love the experience, and constant education that takes place out there in the mountains.?

Just came home from 1 month discovering the wonders of Japan where we had the luck to film 3 different edits in 3 different resorts of the Northern Island : Hokkaido. It's been a dream coming true to be able to ski that light fresh powder Niseko had to offer, we tried to film / ski and edit something different that we use you to, it is also the first time I produce a "backcountry edit" so I hope you'll have fun watching :)

I recently saw some posts going around about mental health and skiing. Because of this, I wanted to share the ski segment from my award-winning documentary film that has been in 10 film festivals. For those of you that do not know, I have been filming skiing for many years. I was diagnosed as autistic at age 23 after struggling with severe depression, anxiety, and alcoholism for quite some time. I am going on 12 years sober, and I am very grateful for the decision I made for myself to get sober. I made it through some tough times with my severe depression and now live a fulfilling life with my girlfriend and a successful film career. I want to let you know that there is no need to feel ashamed of struggling with mental health, and whenever possible, please be open with others so that you do not internalize your struggles. The more we hide it, the harder it gets. If you need someone to talk to, please feel free to reach out. I am here for people that could use the support.
This segment shows me surrounded by my passion for filmmaking. I had people follow me around filming behind-the-scenes footage to capture me filming while combining the footage with my camera angles to the music. There were interviews with Lupe Hagearty, Parker Norvell, Cassidy "Queso" Dubois, and Jaron Stadler speaking about how filming skiing helps alleviate some of my autistic traits as well as my severe depression. During this segment, it also features the skiing of Taylor Seaton, John Spriggs, Keegan Kilbride, Trent Jones, Seamus Flanagan, and the people in the interviews. If it weren't for finding my passion in filmmaking I don't think I would be where I am today. Had a awesome time shredding down south this August! Filmed in Portillo, Chile and Penitentes, Argentina.
Juice had his best season yet earning himself a spot in Level 1 Superunknown finals and a nomination for discovery of the year by IF3. From the streets to the peaks, you can count on Juice to go big and keep it stylin'. His unstoppable passion for skiing continues to shine while he is currently working hard to get back on skis and make a return to the scene with a fresh ACL. Betta whatch out!

Team rider Justin Ott and his best homie Henry jumped into this winter season filming in PA with really no plan or goals towards a big project. As the season went on thing kept progressing into something bigger than they anticipated. Living in Pennsylvania is by no means the best spot to be to express their passions towards skiing, so they mixed it up and "planned" a few trips to get out and enjoy what the bigger mountains had to offer. This is the product of them just hanging out, filming, and having a great time. This film isn't about the big tricks themselves but the experience of being involved in something so great as a whole. Hope you all enjoy!
