Is this a game to you!? Is it!? No seriously...is this a game? Are we living in a simulation? It's hard to find the reality in a digitized existence. Plugged in, every day. Connected, constantly. Charging, perpetually. Watching the human beings of #HumanBeing would lead one to believe that we are living in an alternate virtual reality, and that they have found the cheat codes one would need to conquer Valhalla. Level up humans. It's time to play the game through their eyes.

Sure, technological cheat codes from another dimension can help you achieve greatness sometimes, but for the 10th Annual Master Shredder, staying true to the human form was more in line with the soul shredding vibes of the day. What does it mean for a human to be unphased? To exist, respond, and act in the absence of phase, or rather, to have once been existentially phased, and then through some turn of events, series of experiences, or bending of space, time, and/or the natural state of being, having had the effects of phase removed? While the application of the principles of chemistry, simple classification (or the absence therein), or the actual act thereof could apply, it seems the utilization of the definition in physics, with a verb chaser, seems most appropriate.
If phase is the relationship in time between the successive states or cycles of an oscillating or repeating system (such as an alternating electric current or a light or sound wave) and either a fixed reference point or the states or cycles of another system with which it may or may not be in synchrony, than these humans operate so that, by their circumstances and situations, they find themselves executing maneuverings without regard for external influence or obstacle. They are, put simply, unphased.

When the trolls determined to commit to memory the progression of the Midwest freestyle/park ski scene at Troll, we began our search for a human who's personality was as bright, bizarre, and brazen as our own to document the goings on. Having gotten to know Troll local Nick Schoess/Milk Mayhem/Butterlicious/@kendozersbrother over the last few seasons, the search lasted about 0.7 seconds.

The human beings of #HumanBeing have a Petty-esque way about them, and refuse to kneel before a challenge. These past few weeks have been dominated by good vibes, the 9th Annual Master Shredder competition hosted by Pinewski's and Armada, a new set in Valhalla, and the skies opening up to let down some sunshine and spring shredding. It's a great time to be a troll and/or human at Trollhaugen.

Get your late spring skiing fix with this new cut featuring Jackson Karsteter at his home mountain, Perfect North Slopes. Unfortunately, Perfect North had to close shortly after this edit was filmed because Jackson melted all the snow from his HEATERS. No, seriously, this kid is too good at rails. Words From Kirk Scully About Perfectly Imperfect:
When Jackson and I met earlier this year at the Sugarbush stop of the Level 1 Rail Jam series, we became fast friends. Despite the fact that I almost killed him our first day shooting together, we worked quite well together. The hopes of throwing together an edit from our weekend in January got crushed by the reality of the fact that Sugarbush had gotten hit with a ton of rain, and the Park trail was literally grass. There was barely enough snow at Sugarbush to pull off the rail jam, but alas the show went on… just not the edit. I was planning a roadtrip out to Colorado in early February, and Jackson and I threw out the idea of swinging through his home resort Perfect North in Lawrenceburg, Indiana as a mid-way point to do some filming. With no real expectation of what we would come up with and a day jam packed with virtual meetings some magic happened in front of the lens. For the first jump sequence in the edit, I was on a Microsoft Teams call filming Long Lens through the window from the lodge. After I finished, we took a few runs with the Long Lens mounted on my gimbal before switching it up. It was some of the hardest and riskiest filming I have done in a long time, but I’m really proud of the footage we got. After another quick Microsoft Teams meeting in the lodge we took some hot laps with the wide angle and man was it during these runs where I really got to understand how talented Jackson is. His athleticism and consistency made filming so engaging and fun and the energy we had going was pretty special. When the kids started showing up after the school day was over we took some fish eye laps in the rope tow mini park. The kids were on one. As the sun began to go down we started to wrap up, I packed everything up and got in my car and drove another 4 hours before stopping at a roadside motel to sleep for the night. It was just one of those days. Words cannot describe how special it was to be out there on the ski slopes again making ski videos. I have been making ski edits with my friends for over a decade, and it is single handily the reason why I even owned a camera in the first place. Since filmmaking is my full-time profession now, it was really cool to get back to my roots. I feel incredibly grateful that Jackson and I have created this friendship and cannot wait to see what we shoot next. This is only the beginning.
