Rab might not be the first brand name to roll off the tongue when it comes to Newschoolers’ normal audience but in the words of many a tester, this Khroma Diffuse kit is fucking sick. When Rab told us we could keep the kit at the end of the week and give it to one lucky tester, it almost came to blows. Kidding, kinda, but seriously, this setup looks and feels incredible.

The Jacket has all the features you would expect of a high-end ski jacket and comes in a lightweight Gore-Tex construction. It isn’t the softest jacket in the Rab line, it has a slight crinkle to it, but it’s easy to move in and very lightweight. Gore-Tex (try) to keep their numbers secret, but the common wisdom is all their membranes are at least 28K waterproof so this thing is definitely going to keep you dry. It also has a proper-sized (but non-removable) powder skirt, adjustable hem & hood, and BIG airy pit vents. There are plenty of pockets too and a pass pocket of course.
The pants are also solid, featuring the same Gore-Tex construction and the highlight feature being the best beacon pocket we had at the test. It’s a good size and placement that doesn’t get in the way, with a tie in too. There are also two zippered hand pockets plus both belt loops and velcro adjustable waist, depending on your preference. The kick patches are XL and the ankle zippers allow you to get these on over your boots if you have to. In all these feel like a long-lasting, as well as functional pair of pants, plenty burly for the resort but light enough to tour in too.
Who’s it for? Realistically, more people should buy Rab. This is a great kit and it looks good too, as long as you aren’t looking for that gangster fit. The construction feels top-notch, it could withstand daily resort skiing with no problem. It’s light enough and breathable enough for touring and maybe even tough enough for some sledding.

Fit Guide:
These have a slightly relaxed fit, so you won’t look like a resort dad even if you go true to size. However, for anything approaching baggy, size up 1-2 sizes. Use that belt loop for your Capeesh belt and you’ll be golden.
