The React is my favorite goggle from Scott. The LCG may be the classic but the React brings Scott's top-of-the-line tech to a cylindrical shape which is our general preference. I particularly like its low profile fit when compared to lots of high-end goggles out there. That, plus the relatively straight top bar means it fits well with a variety of helmets, especially Scott's new Flow Pro MIPS.
The React goggle has a combination of great specs but it's the ease of a magnetic lens change combined with the security of a lock that makes these so compelling. You can easily swap lenses without taking the goggles off by flicking the lever to release the old lens and popping in a new one, which locks automatically. The big advantage over traditional magnetic lenses is that locking feature, which keeps the lens in place even when you ragdoll.
Scott's photochromic AMP (CAT2-4) lenses, which are included in some React models, are a great option for mountains that have regular changes between sun and shade, which is true of most resorts in the Alps at least. The Amplifier technology, Scott's term for filtering specific wavelengths of light to provide extra contrast helps when things get gloomy at the end of the day and the lens does go pretty dark when exposed to full sunlight (supposedly down to 8%VLT at the lowest). I didn't feel like they went as dark as a regular CAT4 lens, however, it was only in the full summer sun that I noticed.
At the other end of the scale, they work in overcast conditions but in really bad vis and low light situations, they don't provide enough contrast. For 95% of people, these lenses will cover the vast majority of conditions they ski, all in one lens. But for those really shitty days, Scott includes a CAT1 low light lens full AMP tech, so that has you covered on the few occasions you need it. Overall, I really liked the React when it first dropped, as a comfortable, simple-looking goggle that is deceptively technical upon deeper examination. And the photochromic lens is a definite upgrade. I think it's more than worth a little extra cost personally, because it reduces the faff in your day. - @Twig
This goggle stands out for its unbeatable versatility. Equipped with SCOTT's light-sensitive photochromic technology, the lens automatically adjusts to the light conditions. The 2nd lens features SCOTT's all-new AMP Pro technology. The sleek and modern style of the SCOTT REACT goggle offers a fully integrated magnetic lens changing system that makes handling easy, safe and intuitive, even when wearing gloves. Its clever glasses-compatible design provides an ultra-wide field of vision. You will also like the ultimate NoSweat microfiber face foam for a perfect comfort and fit.
