It's fair to say that Commencal are a pretty big deal in the mountain bike world. Their move into snowsports, which they call their 'snow project', aims to achieve that same standing in the ski/snowboard industry, all the way to carrying well known product names across from the MTB line. You can have a Commencal Clash bike and a Clash ski, and they are going to be focused in the same general direction in their given sports. With how many skiers switch to the bike for the summer months, it seems a no-brainer when you think about it.
Launched 5 years ago, their Ski range is being fine-tuned yearly, but there is no desire to rush the process. Progress is built on feedback from athletes like Paul Vieuxtemps, Andreas Herranz, and new addition, Timothy Sivignon. For the 23/24, the emphasis is on creating tools to have even more fun on snow. The biggest highlight? A new iteration of their eponymous 'Clash' ski. The Clash was one of their first models, but this year's version is a full revamp and it looks like an absolute banger of an everyday option, at a great price.
The team has been heavily involved in the development of this new Clash, skiing it everywhere from backcountry jumps to the streets. Check out Tim crushing it on the new whips below and get stoked for ski reviews coming this season from our team

Big air, rails, pipe: the preferred terrain for our Absolut ski. Carefully developed during a two-year collaboration with our riders. This Absolut is a pure freestyle tool. There's tons of pop in order to deliver liveliness on take-offs from kickers, and low swingweight to optimize rotations.

When we looked at the project for this new CLASH, we first considered the behavior of the old model, what we wanted to keep from it, and where our areas of progress should be. We have kept the same core for its efficiency and longevity but switched up just about everything else based on feedback from the team.

What do kids like to do the most on their skis? Jump, slash, explore, and generally just have as much fun as possible. That’s why we thought that a versatile freestyle ski was the most logical step for them. The construction is almost identical to the adult version with one exception, a more flexible fiber reinfo…
