Pushing for change, innovating, and striving to be different are just a few of the principles LINE Skis live by. The brand focuses on how to have more fun sliding down mountains and they create new and innovative gear that allows their squad to push skiing through creativity in all kinds of directions.
Since ‘95 they've been doing just that. They entered skiing the sport was still dull, stiff, and boring, and started skiing the wrong way. Not because of any particular desire to disrupt an industry, but just because it was more fun. Not just a brand; they are skiers above all else. Check out how many clips bossman Connor Clayton has in recent TC episodes for evidence of that. To this day, they continue innovating, trying new sh*t, and pushing what is possible in ski design.
For 2024 the Line has redesigned the Sir Francis Bacon, now simply called the Bacon and available on 108 and 115mm widths. Taylor Lundquist gets the Honey Bee as her pro model too. There is a big focus on Durability improvements for the 2024 line-up and the graphics go hard, these skis are gonna pop on the hill!
Perhaps the biggest change to the lineup is the new Chronic. Line is bringing out two widths, 94mm and 101mm with insane topsheets as well as limited edition a Traveling Circus line. For the regular 94 & 101, you'll have to wait until fall as always but the Traveling Circus skis are available NOW. Designed for all-mountain freestyle enjoyment, the Chronic 94 and 101 are beefed up with the latest durability improvements.
These Chronics are the beefiest freestyle skis Line has ever made. So whether you're trying to rip morning arcs on the groomers, charge through afternoon crud, or hot lap the park, the Chronic 94 and 101 offer a versatile, stable platform to take you wherever you want to go on, or off, the mountain.
The key changes are on the shape and durability side. The new shapes are more rockered, with longer sidecuts and blunter tips, allowing for both playfulness and float. There are also three major durability upgrades:
- Bio-Resin: The goal here was to make the skis both more durable and sustainable. One key material that factors into both categories is the resin found in a ski. For the past two years, Line's engineers have been developing a custom resin solution, known as Bio-Resin, that features better bonding, improved cold temperature toughness, and a 20% reduction in our carbon footprint for every ski produced. The TC 94 and 101 are the first skis they have brought to production with our new Bio-Resin technology.
- Thin Tip: Park skiing is hard on your skis, there's no way around that. The tips and tails take a beating from consistently slapping down on landings and knuckles, running into rails, and slamming down on ledges. That's where the new Thin Tip (2.0) Technology comes into play. The cores on their new skis now extended through the tips and tails, and at the extremes of the ski, they have created a glass-on-glass bonding area in both the tip and the tail. The glass-on-glass bonding is stronger than a traditional sandwich layup and gives even compaction over the tip / tail of the ski and encapsulates anything that could delaminate, providing a buffer zone. That means that while delaminations can always happen, the new tech will also help prevent delams from reaching the core of the ski. As a bonus, it also reduces swingweight.
- Thick-Cut Sidewall: Line have increased the thickness of their sidewall that stretches into the core of the ski while adding more material over the steel edges to increase the total bonding surface area. This creates sidewalls more resilient to hard, edge impacts, like sliding rails. The new sidewalls are also vertical, unlike those on previous Bacons/Chronics whichalso improves power transfer.
