Looking for the high performance boot of your dreams that doesn't kill your feet? Look no further than Pulse Boot Lab, a specialty boot specific shop located in the hotspots of the Canadian ski scene. If you ever find yourself in Banff, Revelstoke, or even out east in Collingwood these guys have you covered.
What exactly do they do? Try 3D scans of your foot to find the best matched boot, foam-injected liners to ensure that boot is perfect for you, and fully custom footbeds for the all around package of having the best fitting boots on the mountain. I was lucky enough to meet up with Jesse at the Banff location to get the full treatment. And after a season of riding, I’m impressed. I’ve never had a custom footbed let alone a custom liner, and it will be a struggle going back to anything less than that. While Pulse offers the full service of finding you the right boot from the start, I rolled in with a season old set of Nordica ProMachine 130’s. As much as I wish it would fit perfect, they were off the mark and in need of some serious improvement.
The combination of the foam-injected liner and custom footbed made an incredible difference in my enjoyment of a day at the hill. I can actually make it from bell to bell without unbuckling my boots every chance I can. The liner stiffens up the boot, taking my broken in 130 up to about 140, which made big stomps more stable, hard charges less sketchy, and in general made me feel way more in control of my skis. The upgrade from a trim-to-fit foot bed up to the custom one is something I regret not doing sooner. Having arch support matched to your feet is such a game changer in trying to endure a full ski day.
So if you're struggling to get a boot that feels just right, or just want to upgrade your current set, Pulse is the place to go.

Their Process
Step 1: Profile
Detailed information about your wants, needs and expectations of your equipment. Your unique profile and measurements help them create a ‘blueprint’ to effectively determine a great direction.
Step 2: Shell
The most important element of the fit is the correct size, shape and performance level of the shell. From your skier profile they are able to stream line the process and narrow the selection to a few models.
Step 3: Footbed
Supporting the foot inside the shell reduces hot spots, improves control and increases circulation. In the same way a well built house relies on it’s foundation, your feet rely on support.
Step 4: Liner
ProFit Injection liners compliment, and complete the overall fit. Perfectly filling the voids that exist between the shell and your supported foot ensures the best possible result.
