686 Dojo Pants 2023 Review

Does the perfect park pant even exist? Well, maybe it does now. The 686 Dojo Pants are probably the best casual snowpants I've ever tried. They have all the style you could ever ask for but in a fully-featured snowpant. Seriously, I know this is giving it away early in the review, but these are fucking awesome.

Getting the ball rolling, let's talk features. 20k/20k fabric, fully taped seams, mesh vents, and a 500d inner hem lining... that's pretty much the kind of tech you'd expect from a backcountry bib, not a $199 park pant. They might have a bit much swag for touring but for sidecountry adventures in any condition, that's more than enough numbers-wise. And to me, there's no need for anything more pricey for resort days.

The fit is on point too. Normally when you buy 'baggy' from a larger brand, even the 'baggy' fits are pretty tame, and getting a decent sag requires a major upsize. I'm 5'9 and 145lbs, and in a large, the Dojo is properly Baggy, capital B. I'd say it fits similarly to most XL/XXL but with a smaller waist, which is a huge win in my books. The waist is still slightly big for me, but the built-in drawcord keeps them on without issue, so there's no need for suspenders which I definitely prefer.

The fabric has a good weight to it (and a super nice raw texture) without being too heavy. Generally, I find the Dojo exceptionally comfortable, to the point where I'd love a pair for day-to-day wear in a non-technical fabric. They have a baggy fit but enough structure that they don't bunch around the boot, keeping that wide fit feel. But perhaps most importantly, they feel bombproof. My old 686 Cargo Pants hold the honor of being by far the most durable pants I've ever owned and the Dojos have that same feel about them. They feel like they'll easily hold for a couple of full seasons, which is more than I can say for most pants these days.

For me, the Dojo Pant has the perfect baggy fit

It's easy to sound ridiculously positive in reviews and something I tend to try and avoid, but these pants are seriously one of my favorite products I've tried in recent seasons. I matched them with the Paclite Jacket (á la Mango) but the Dojo jacket is dope too. The only negative I can think of is the elastic hem can occasionally ride up the boot a tad. I know that's the style, so it isn't really a complaint, but I might have made it just a touch looser. But that's literally it, for me, these are a 9.9(recurring)/10, they're great. - @Twig
