Founded in 1933, Pomoca is one of, if not the the oldest manufacturer of touring ski skins in the world - Made in Switzerland with nothing but the best quality materials and decades of experience.
A good pair of skins can mean the difference between a great season and one full of extra work or money. Every skier has their own preferences when it comes to touring skins which is often dictated by the environment they plan on exploring in addition to number of outings per year. Pomoca has an awesome "find your skin" profile selector on their website that helps you figure out what is best for you.
In my case I tour 5-20 times a season and typically hang in mellow angle terrain. Now this season I did not get as many up-hill days as I planned to but I can say these skins fit the ticket for me and then some. The S slide have a great ratio of grip & glide with it’s Nylon (30%)/ mohair blend (70%). I used them mainly in colder more dry climates so I had very little freezing issues. Pomoca does a great job of balancing all the variables and makes this pair a master of none but jack of all trades. For only 1 season on them I noticed very little wear and as a semi-casual backcountry skier I can see myself easily getting many more seasons’ out of these. Skins should and could last more than 1 season if you take all the necessary steps to care of them. For a lot of skiers the glue is the first to go and I think Pomoca has been in the game for so long that they simply figured out the magic blend to making them last.
If you’re looking for a skin that can do it all at the above average level while lasting you 50+ days, the Pro S-Glide is at the top of the list. It’s meant for your advanced skier who wants to take touring more seriously and go a bit longer and further than the average skier. I had these on a 112 width ski and found they are definitely a bit too large for storing in your jacket- which is not a problem for me at all because I always tour with a backpack. I found the tail connectors to clip off more than I would like. This was later solved with tightening them once they were on.
Overall this is a great all around high end skin for touring. Most reviews will tell you this and I am here to confirm it.
They offer about 10 different types of skins each with a special twist. Check em all out here
