Venturing out in new territories is the best way to ski. The first day in a new zone is all about getting your bearings. Not only do you scope out potential lines, but you get under the snow. Dig your pits, test the slopes so when it does get to be time to ski those big lines you have the confidence that you'll be coming home at the end of the day.
