doing it in degrees makes no sense. The math sucks to do the addition.

once you got used to doing it in radians and "thought" that way, it would be much better

like a switch double cork 1260 would just be a switch dub cork 7. easy, you just take the number of spins and multiply by two.

even rails would just just as easy.

announcers couldn't possibly fuck this up.

we don't always say "360". people call them "three's" and "7's" etc.

I could say that was an awesome 4π but saying "four" would get the message across.

the least amount of syllables most people use for like a 270 is "two-sev". so "three-half" is the same amount of effort to say. "5-half" is easier to say than 450. Where it reall would be better though is in the big tricks. I dunno what the fuck a triple cork 10 would be without adding, but but I know that it's three flips and 5 spins.

even numbers take you back to the direction you took off , odd numbers switch you from normal to switch or vice versa.

the only reason this sounds crazy is because you know what a 7 is without thinking at all. that would quickly happen if we switched to radians. Radians for skiing is like the metric system. It just makes sense, but people who can't vizualize a kilometre will never want it.

instead of using cork/ misty / bio to describe what axis your spinning on we should use 3D vectors to describe the rotational velocity. A skier would be traveling down the Y axis positive to negative so a left Lincoln loop would be defined by the vector a backflip would be and a left cork would be doubles would be 2 so a double back would be add this with radians to measure spins and that would make a 2pi radians for a double cork 180

Why should we stop there? Let's just describe every trick using matrices to describe the rotations. We wouldn't need announcers, we could just have them pop up on your tv in the bottom corner while watching the olympics. We'd also be able to mathematically tell the difference between bio and misty or rodeo and flatspin.

I'm going to get back to studying for my lin alg mid term now...

It should be done in seconds (subdivision of degrees). 1 degrees = 3600 arc seconds. A 360 would be 1,296,000 arc seconds.

Naw. Pi is the dumbest constant anyone has ever used. You need to use tau. It's 2pi and makes radians so much easier. So...

For jumps:

360 = tau
540 = tau + pi (or a "tp")
720 = 2tau (or a "2")
900 = 2tau + pi (a "2 tp")
1080 = 3tau (or a "3")
etc.

For rails:

270 = 3/4 tau
450 = 1 and 1/4 tau (or a "1 and 4")

Negative values for counterclockwise (the "old" leftside) and positive for clockwise.

Revolution complete. (Pun intended)
