Me and my Bro just got back from shooting our round robin skeet and trap tournament for my birthday today. Good shit man!

My question is, how can people blame guns for death when it takes a person behind that gun to pull the trigger? Criminals are always going to be able to find a way to get their hands on guns whether it be by borrowing from a family member or just buying one from a store. Its hard to weed out those who decide 5 years down the road that they hate life and want to go on a shooting spree from those who will be responsible gun owners for life. I think this world needs better education on guns and people need to stop portraying them as this nasty evil tool for destruction and instead view it as a very powerful tool that needs to be handled and taken care of responsibly.

Knowledge is key.

exactly. why are we trying to restrict gun purchases when someone can already just go to a shop and be fine for 5 years, then all of a sudden snap.

it's all about the person? it doesn't matter where they get the guns. might as well not make it tougher for the people who aren't going to go on a shooting spree because the criminal will find a gun anyways.

Let me ask you a question. How messed up in the head does someone have to be to get to the point where they want to use a gun to end someone else's life?

Guns make it easy to kill people but so does making a bomb or any other weapon that causes immediate carnage. That still doesn't stop people from making bombs and you don't see them banning bomb making material...

Simply trying to make it harder to get guns won't have nearly as big of an impact (especially when they ban guns just because they look like they came from CoD) as education and mental assistance to those who need it will.

Also no one wants to take your damn gun rights, they just want to make it harder to get them. You sound like a fucking ignorant shit head by jumping to the extreme conclusion of "Obama wants to get ride of the Second Amendment". If you are a fucking law abiding citizen you shouldn't have any fucks to give if you gotta have a background check before you purchase a gun. In fact I am completely okay with this idea to be applied to other aspects of life. For example, we should take this same principle of background checks/more "red tape" and apply it to obtaining a drivers license. It should be hell of a lot harder to drive a car in this country, it would most likely result in less traffic accidents.

And the person I just quoted, did you seriously just compare bomb making and purchasing a gun to one another? Like do you not understand how much easier it is for someone to go to Walmart and buy a gun as opposed to learning how to make a bomb??

You're right mental illness and the various underlying motives that lead someone to commit murder is the root cause. But putting in legislation so that it becomes more difficult for someone to become efficient at committing murder is not a bad way at confronting the problem.

It should be an effort that is made on multiple fronts, not one or the other.

Give me 3 hours and I could make a bomb capable of blowing up some serious shit. Its not that hard. Get the explosives from Gunnies, the pressure cooker/vessel from any kitchen store and some shrapnel from Lowes. A delayed trigger is easy and can be done countless different ways. Its not that hard and people would result to it if we got to the point where it was easier to kill a person with a bomb than a gun.

Hell I've made some bombs as a kid in the past that have blown the hatch off of the top of a water tower using a bunch of M80's, a toilet paper roll and some hot glue.

Its honestly pretty scary thinking of how big some of the bombs me and my brother made were. We spent like 1 week making the one that we blew the door off of the water tower with and it weighed like 4 pounds and used the explosives from about 30 M80's and about 5 sticks of hot glue all wrapped in a huge duct tape package. Thing had a 5 foot wick so we had time to get to cover before it went off!

Me and my brother did the craziest shit in the summer when my parents went to work!

Lets be clear here, the sandy shooting, the boston marathon, these are all horrible events. But these are isolated events... There are plenty of gun deaths that occur every single day and this legislation will have the most profound affect on those numbers more than these rare yet tragic events that have unfolded this year.

I get what your saying. Its just hard to regulate something that over 50% of americans already own. Even if you make it harder to purchase a gun, there's still a very good chance someone close to an individual owns a gun and they could get access too. That's why I say knowledge and education are the best means of "gun control" out there. Educate the people about guns instead of treating them like this taboo evil killing machine when its not the gun thats the killing machine. Background checks are good at weeding out felons but theres no way to determine if a gun buyer is in the "right" state of mind to buy a gun and if they'll always be a responsible gun owner later in life.

Its such a hard issue to deal with since guns are so deeply rooted in American society. I fucking love my guns and have great times shooting at the range, coyotes, hunting, and just plinking with friends and family.
