give us more info. where are you from? where do you normally ski? where do you see yourself going as a skier? how tall are you and how much do you weigh?
i would say get something used and cheap. no reason to spend 1000 bucks on a setup just to learn how to do it. As you get a little better you will start to form your own style and then it will be clearer what nice skis you should buy but there is no reason to drop a grand on a pair of skis now only to realize next year you wanna try to get into park or touring or something and dont have the gear for it
